Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Thank you so very much for these beautiful pictures of our Lord! I loved them all and copied them to my hard drive to make a slide show!!!! They are gorgeous, all of them!

My husband gave me a beautiful book of icons and early church art, for Christmas, of our Lord, and the early church fathers. It has really blessed me during my prayer time. And now, thanks to you all, I have a slide show for my computer!
God bless all of you!
Your friend,
Suzannah

One of my favorites is the icon I use for my avatar. I uploaded a larger version of it in the Walk in Freezer over on OBOB and JeffreyLloyd has posted it full size in the Icons and Images thread in their "Chapel" subforum so I won't upload it again for this thread

This has got to be one of our favorite icons, the Ierosalemitissa (not sure of the spelling). We were greatly blessed in being to venerate this icon when it was brought to Greece for a couple of months from Jerusalem.

This one of St. Nicholas looks very similar to what I saw~!

Dear Suzannah:

If you search the web, you may find another Icon of St. Nicholas, Searcher of the Lost. I found the above by entering in the sole word "Mariner". I saw another one that is even more beautiful but have not located it yet.

Your sister in Christ,
Elizabeth

This is my favorite Ikon of Our Lord. It is found in the Monastery of St Cathrine on Mt Sinai.

Have you seen this online comparison of the Shroud of Turin and the Icon of Christ at St. Cathrine's?

Take a look...it is amazing.

Yes Dismas!!! I've seen that !!! Amazing!

If you are interested in the Shroud, you might find this interesting also: there are numerous medical examiners who have done "post mortems" on it...fascinating reading. Lee Strobel, in his book, the Case for Christ, includes an interview with one of these coroners....further articles by coroners can be found here:http://www.shroudstory.com/forensics.htm

psst: I'm a Shroud believer... :)

I'd forgotten about this thread.

Here is where my avatar comes from (Saint John the Forerunner AKA Prodromos)

And this, definitely one of our favourites, called "The King of Glory" from Holy Iveron monastery on Mount Athos
