Luther Bridgers was a Methodist minister who wrote both words and music to this uplifting song. It is assumed that he wrote it after he lost his wife and children in a tragic house fire while he was away at a revival in Kentucky.

Some of my favs are Victory in Jesus, Unclouded Day, How Majestic, Beulah Land, Will the Circle be Unbroken, Amazing Grace, and MANY MANY more. Of the newer Variety I like My chains are gone (amazing grace) - Chris Tomlin, Mountain of God - 3rd Day, Who I Am - Casting Crowns.

The only thing I am concerned with is that newer Christians arent going to know the music that we know from all the churches moving to newer music.

How I love that hymn 'JoynTx', 'There's within my heart a melody...'
It was one of the first I sang as a new convert,43 years ago! It describes
just how I feel now,as well. What a fantastic hymn.

I love the new hymns and songs also,'SCKeith!' I don't know that one 'The Stand',but it looks great,exalting our Lord Jesus Christ.

I like a combination of the old and new. As 'bjcaudill23' says it would be a shame to lose the heritage of the past,when they have so much to offer. Old and new have so much to impart.
