  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Terry Goodkind, Matthew Reilly, Robin Hobb, Tamora Pierce, and you can't forget Roald Dahl!
Robin Hobb is one of my favorites too! I also like Matthew Reilly a lot - James Rollins writes similar books that you might like. :)

Other favorites: Stephen R. Lawhead, Dick Francis, Simon Green, Gordon Dickson, Robert Heinlein.

I do not think there is an author better than GK Chesterton. He uses the English language as if he created it. He writes on all sorts of topics, and writes in all sorts of genres. He is verry funny and very profound; his mind is simply brilliant. I think everyone becomes a little bit smarter with each page they read of Chesterton's.

I also like Tolkien, CS Lewis, James Fenimore Cooper, JK Rowling, and Homer, if you can count Homer :).

Hello, Daniel Martinez here. I've read many, many books; but the one that will always stand out in my mind is Stranger in a Strange Land, by Robert A. Heinlein. I would have to say that, even if only because of that book, Mr. RAH is my favorite author.

Hmm, I guess I'd have to say Piers Anthony. He's so funny, and I love the Xanth series. But Tamora Peirce is also great, even if she aims for a slightly younger audience (around 12-15). Yet I think every girl would love what she's done.

I agree completely. GKC is by far my favorite writer.

Re: Ayn Rand -- I loved Fountainhead. I didn't care for Atlas Shrugged. It wasn't so much a work of literature as it was a seemingly endless propaganda piece. But it lends itself to really incredible discussions, and that's enjoyable.

My favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien, Alexander Dumas, Isaac Asimov, Carol Shields (Unless is one of my favorite books!), Barbara Kingsolver (love the essays in Small Wonder!), Pat Conroy (not so much for his plots as the way he mesmerizes you with words), Chaim Potok, and George McDonald. :) John Steinbeck, Leo Tolstoy, and Kurt Vonnegut are also wonderful.

Don't have a definite favorite. In no real order:
Dave Eggers
Tom Clancy
Clive Cussler
Neal Stephenson
Agatha Christie
Ray Bradbury
Brian Jacques
Robert Jordan
...along with several others I'm destined to forget and then remember at a latter time.

The man's got a point.

I'm also a fan of Shakespeare, Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Tolkien, Matthew Reilly, Douglas Adams, and various others.
