Regardless of whether or not this is an appropriate use of Executive Privilege, the House will be voting on Holder's contempt prior to Obama invoking Executive Privilege

Why isn't Issa even slightly curious about how Mukasey, Holder's predecessor, did things, if he thinks specific directives came from the Justice Dept regarding the Fast & Furious Operation? Mukasey would have been in charge under "W."

Oh, there might be a reason - the Wikipedia page for Mukasey identifies him as a Republican. This gets more and more interesting, every time I look something up - LOL!

I also said that the President granted Holder's request to invoke Executive Privilege on those documents. Holder serves at the pleasure of the President who appointed him, and by invoking Executive Privilege, President Obama is agreeing with Holder's decision to withhold the documents from Congress. That's as far from being "under the bus" as you can get.

Nixon was allowed to get away with giving the orders. I suspect this is because the people who were caught getting involved with it, protected him. Not much you can do about that.

But I don't think the people who got involved with this, are being protected. There is every reason to believe they are cooperating with the Justice Dept. I am convinced that there IS a lot of anger about what happened to Agent Terry, and that there are people who would be prepared to help the AG to make sure justice is done, instead of a political agenda.

If the House votes for the contempt charge, Obama can either throw Holder under the bus or start packing his things to make room for Romney to move into the White House. Obama isn't the type to stand up for what he really believes at his own expense, so Holder will be history

Fast and furious didn't exist under "W". That was the gunwalker program, the gunwalker program used rfid chips and worked with the mexican government, when it was shown to be a failure it was ended in 2007. Derp.

To be clear, it actually had a great deal more success than many people, especially the media, gave it credit for. It was halted, yes; and yes, that was the reason given; however, I believe it was the sentiment against the operation itself that truly shut it down.

And lets not forget unlike the Bush era program, it was done without cooperation or notification of the Mexican government... and the whole time it was going on we were hearing from holder how weapons were going from illegal gun sales into mexico.

That too has been slightly skewered by the media. While the ATF never outright told the Mexican government HOW they knew, they did run several joint seizures with the Mexican law enforcement utilizing the information gathered by the program.

Again, everything went to pot after the order to cease tracking came down, and that didn't happen until Holder took office.

The GOP official said the administration also promised to provide hundreds of pages of documents, but only if the House Republicans would stop the contempt effort and end their investigation. The offer was rejected.

Basically, stop investigating and don't start again, before you can see if anything illegal was going on. Yeah, that's such a sweet offer.
