There have other major impact events in prehistoric times,but the evidence in most cases is visible only from earths orbit.Wind and water erosion over the years made sure of that....Did you know that there was a major impact on the Chesapeake Bay that affected the entire eastern seaboard?

That is true...
If you click the dot and then click what comes up after that, more info will come up..I tried it on the Chesapeake crater.

And there is no telling how many of these have occurred..there is no true crater.

Hmmm, just out of interest, looking at that, it seems there's a really high concentration of craters in North America and Northern Europe.

Anyone have any thoughts as to why that might be?

It would be hard to find impacts in the tropics due to water erosion...more rain,faster erosion
