LoveGodsWord said: If you do not do confusion your best to believe the scriptures shared with you. Anything else from the teachings and traditions of men outside of the scriptures is the very definition of confusion if it disagrees with Gods Word and leads us away from Gods' Word to believe in lies. We can seek to explain away the scriptures all we like, but according to the scriptures only Gods' Word us truth *Romans 3:4; John 17:17 and we should believe and follow them *Acts of the Apostles 5:29. It is the words of God we accept or reject that will become our judge come judgement day according to Jesus in John 12:47-48 and those who do not believe according to Jesus do not receive eternal life *John 3:36

I just know I'll regret asking, but what books do you think I read besides the Bible?
What do you think my post that you are quoting from is saying?

What do you think my post that you are quoting from is saying?

It appears to suggest that I study extra-biblical sources of information.

I do read some news and I read commentaries by other Christians sometimes but both are used by me to assist in my Bible studies.

I did get some ad hominem recently after confessing that I read and enjoyed studying the book of Enoch.

That was something like 35 years ago. I didn't even buy a copy of it. I trespassed the grounds of a local college and would go into their library to study a copy of Enoch.

Well no, my post was not saying any of this. It was simply stating that according to the scriptures Universalism is not biblical and is a false teaching that has originated from the first lies told to Eve in the garden of Eden. That is we can disobey Gods' Word and not surely die *Genesis 3:1-5 and that according to the scriptures, only Gods' Word us truth *Romans 3:4; John 17:17 and we should believe and follow them *Acts of the Apostles 5:29. It is the words of God we accept or reject that will become our judge come judgement day according to Jesus in John 12:47-48 and those who do not believe according to Jesus do not receive eternal life *John 3:36 which is the opposite of what Universalism teaches.

I think you're exaggerating the problem here, bro! Just let folks who espouse Universalism express themselves as fellow Christians. I think we all can cut each other some slack.

Actually the Bible doesn't teach anything agaist the belief directly. Someone, perhaps the SDA prophetess, put scripture excerpts together and used the montage to make a theological declaration.

No that is not true at all. Of course the bible teaches against Universalism. According to the scriptures, Universalism is a false teaching that has originated from the first lies told to Eve in the garden of Eden. That is we can disobey Gods' Word and not surely die *Genesis 3:1-5. Jesus in His own words even says that those who do not believe will not receive everlasting life in John 3:36. There is also over 100+ scriptures I can post agreeing with what Jesus says that I am also happy to provide if anyone is interested. We should be careful to believe what God's Word says in my view. What you believe is between you and God. I prefer the bible which is Gods' Word.

Take Care.

Gods' Words are Gods not mine. You are free to believe as you wish. What is it from the scriptures that have been shared here that you do not believe?

I find it interesting when those who believe in annihilation, like SDAs, argue strenuously against universalism. Because I've heard annihilationists say basically the same things against the eternal torment doctrine as universalists.

Show me from the scriptures that have been shared with you that are Gods' Words not my words why you disagree. If you have only been provided scripture that is in disagreement with you then who are you in disagreement with me of God whose words they are? This is the difference it is not about any of us it is always about what Gods' Word says and you have not provided any.

Take Care.

I guess in most areas of life if you're striving to be top dog you have to impress on your enemies/competitors that they're all equally inferior, even though you reserve the right to show favouritism. It would be nice to think that religion is different but it seems not.

I'm sure I can cobble scripture excerpts together to claim the Bible says most anything I want.

It's the oldest trick in the book

Judaism teaches the Kaddish Prayer, and the temporary purifying nature of Gehinnom.

Somewhat interesting but this was exactly what I said I would not accept. That is one guy giving his unsupported opinion. By any chance did you read my post where I quoted the Jewish Encyclopedia, the Encyclopedia Judaica and the Talmud all of which quoted scripture. If you did then you apparently rejected it but you expect me to accept one guy's opinion.

Some who I have interacted with post as if they hadn't even when they quote the post. Go figure.

I wouldn't expect it.
Some do? One person posted something like this "I know somebody who knows Greek and he says you are wrong."
