• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ideally: 2 miles on treadmill + 30 min aerobics with handweights or Yoga, 5 days per week.....
On bad days it gets cut in half.
On bad weeks the days get cut in half.
Sometimes I throw in Tai Chi or an abs workout as a bonus.
Sometimes I catch the flu and don't workout for two or three weeks. :sorry:

Exercise - what do you do for exercise - is it regular?

We are spiritual beings in a physical body. Having the energy to think is important and remaining physically capable is also pretty crucial.

So, unfortunately owing to my alternating day and night shift I have stopped my sprinting and no longer do any regular exercise as every part of the day or night now feels pretty much the same.

But I have lower back ache, so what sort of exercise should I be doing?

What sorts of exercise does everyone else take and what does it do for you?

I excersise for one hour at least every other day, and sometimes every day. I go to the Fitness Center, YMCA , and one day do upper body and the next time do lower body. I use the machines and do 40-50 reps for each machine. I especially like shoulder and neck excercises as it relaxes the muscles that I carry a lot of stress in .

my son used to be an excellent hula hooper :D. By watching him I finally got it, it's not a circular motion that is needed to keep it going but more of a side to side rhythm. I'm still not a pro at it, but I get the concept more since I watched him so much.

I used to hula hoop all the time as a kid. That's why I was so excited to hear it was a good way to burn calories. I just assumed I could do it. So I got all the info off the Net and made my own of various sizes. I was soooo excited...and well...nothing. I can do maybe 4 rotations if that. I was starting to get depressed, so I put it to the side until I can feel good about it again but I'll get there!

I think if I tried to hula hoop I'd break a hip! :D Oh, and I'd look extremely silly.

I usually bike ride, but some friends of mine are big into running. I used to do cross country in high school, so I thought I'd get back into it and start running with my friends. I ran a mile for the first time in a long time yesterday, and hoping to do a 5K this summer.

I used to love to walk. I would do the Jerry Lewis Walk-a-thons and walk 20 miles. Now my feet hurt after walking around at work for 4-5 hours so IDK if I can walk anymore and I never was into running. I don't think our bodies are built to pound our feet so much but that's just me.

Wow 20 miles?! That's probably more than I walk in an entire year. LOL. That's great. I think running is bad for the body, too. Or at least I'll keep using that as an excuse not to do it. ^_^ I honestly do need to start doing some sort of exercise, though. I suppose walking would be a good start...

When you do the treadmill, are you doing intense Cardio such as Running? Or a brisk/slower steady walking?

I don't own a treadmill, but usually I run/walk in intervals. My warm up walk is usually at a pretty brisk pace, then I find myself slowing down towards the cooling down period haha! :prayer:

Walk: 5 minutes warm up
Run: 15 minute
Walk: 10
Run: 20
Walk: 10

Well Spring is finally here! After I broke my ankle every fall and winter my joints start to ache. By far this was the most painful winter I've ever had joint wise. Late January I heard a little bit about something called Classical Stretch on my public access station. Turns out it's been on PBS for like 15 years. I don't get PBS so I had never heard of it. From the little bit that I heard it made sense. I looked it up on line and thought okay but the season I needed was no longer available. I searched all over the net and couldn't find a copy. The next morning I went on Ebay and there was one Season 4 copy newly listed. So I ordered it. God is so good! As I was waiting for my order things got progressively worse joint wise. I don't think I had a joint that didn't hurt. At one point I could barely walk. I had to use the walker I had from when I broke my ankle.

My order came on time but I was really in pain and I thought maybe I should wait on this but the instructor was encouraging you work out even if you were in pain. I wasn't sure that was quite right BUT I did it anyway and I was floored! The pain didn't go completely away but it significantly subsided to the point that I didn't need the walker. This happened after one workout. I was amazed. I didn't know what to expect but I didn't expect that. To be honest I was desperate to stop hurting and I wanted a good nights sleep but I didn't know it was going to happen so fast. I'm truly pleased. God heard my heart because I don't remember doing a lot of praying. I finally found something I enjoy doing as exercise and I immediately feel the results. It's the closes thing I've come to that gives my body that “ahhhh” I get from swimming. It is fantastic and I am enjoying it.

I just wanted to share that. Maybe there's somebody out there who has some physical pain or hasn't exercised in a while. Classical Stretch might be something you want to look into. You can google it and it's also on YouTube. I think it's still on PBS too. It's been a blessing to me. Maybe it will be the same for someone else. :)
