I think Christians should be honest no matter what the job they hold but there is always a temptation to be a little dishonest when honesty cost us something.

No it doesn't.
Cruz apologized to Dr.Carson and then said he stood behind what his campaign did.
That Cruz said he stood behind what his campaign did after he apologized for it is the ultimate flip-flop. And it revoked his act of contrition in its entirety.

It's like someone who's best friend steals a man's car. That man apologizes to the car owner for the theft and then in another atmosphere says he's OK with his best friend having stolen that man's car.

And regardless of how Cruz fan's want to spin it, the moment Cruz apologized to Ben Carson was the moment he admitted he had something to apologize for; a lie about Ben Carson.
That Cruz then and out of Dr.Carson's presence said he stood behind what his campaign did showed that Cruz is not only a liar, but he has no integrity and he's a flip flopper. And that he lied again when he apologized for what he later said he supported.

Ted Cruz's immorality is its own smear.

So you have never been tempted to lie before? The flesh can not be redeem just it the scripture claims. That's why we as Christian are to bring it into subjection.
By the way I don't put my faith in my own righteousness but the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Jesus teaches me to pray that I'm not lead into temptation as He knows my heart is willing but my flesh is weak.

Well if he gets in pity help the world! However in saying that an old neighbour of mine once said the very characteristics that make someone run for politics are the very characteristics the country does not need once they are there. Looking at the candidates I guess your choices are quite limited on both sides hence my old neighbours musings were right on the money.
If I was an American Christian and knew a professing Christian candidate was lying for self promotion I could not support them. We had the same with our last PM.

I don't trust my government to do the right thing. They are beholden to multi national companies. Here people expect government to do EVERYTHING for them. Too many don't be proactive to help themselves or prepare for any disaster. Therefore don't see their individual freedoms being eroded away. We are a complete Nanna State

Well I'm not sure about this Ben Carson thing but I can categorically state he lied to the American public about Australian gun laws so I believe he is prepared to lie. End of story. Maybe our gun laws aren't important but the lying is.
