My question is this, given this understanding of true conversion in Christianity, is there anyone who meets the above criteria and has then forsaken (or replaced) it for another faith? If so, I'm just wondering why?
I can only speak for myself of course, and I was a fairly standard German protestant - read: Born into the christian society, thus considered myself a christian. By your definition, I guess I never was one.
Alas, there are many people out there who once were christians by your definition, yet they deconverted - most, but not all, into atheism.

None of that means he was for sure a Christian. Being a Christian I can tell you that God enlightens you to certain truths that you just could not walk permanently away from. If he did, I would have to suspect he was just being a church member.
^_^ oh please!!!!!! he was a christian . u dont have any authority to decide whos a real christian and whos not . just becoz he walked away he was never a real christian .... ya right. so i could say the same about people who convert into christianity from other religions. they were never real hindus or real muslims . if they were they would have never walked away. that man was an adult devout orthodox christian for many many years

now we will hear that missionaries / pastors are not real christians either. anyone who crowncaster does not approve of is not a real christian
It is true that only a very few find the true attitude, and correct beliefs in the Christian world sanaa. I'll be honest and say that I have met a few christians who could have turned me off christianity completely. But, they didn't succeed.
I feel ashamed of the way some of them act.

Yes. Me.

If so, I'm just wondering why?
Short, short, short version: God didn't match up with the Bible's often immoral description of him. :)

definate violation of the rules.
I don't think so.

Would you please elaborate how my posting of that URL, within the context of my posting, constitutes "primarily promoting"? Someone asked a question, and as far as I can tell this URL can help him find answers. I'm sorry if this upsets you.

I don't expect you to posess any insight into these things. Big difference between people leaving a pagan religion to join with Jesus. That is how it is supposed to work. People that leave Jesus and do not return were not ever His in the first place. They were just playing church.

o u mean i will confess Jesus is Lord right before my knees are broken and tounge ripped out and Jesus throws me into the lake of fire to burn and scream in torture and misery for eternity without any chance of a repreive , even tho 400000 trillion years have gone by .!!! ofcourse i would confess He is Lord then. i would have NO CHOICE. just like a woman has no choice but to say yes to the rapist when he has a gun to her head or a knife to her thigh
What is wrong with you? You need counseling.

Referring to me?

Personally I find the attitude that some Christians have of not taking a bold stand for Jesus to be most offensive. They seem so very luke warm.

I will let the mods decide that since I have already reported it.

I don't expect you to posess any insight into these things.

why becoz am hindu????? ive already seen that if a person does not do exactly as u do u say he is not a real christian. not exactly a person who will i look to meet the expectations of.............

Big difference between people leaving a pagan religion to join with Jesus. That is how it is supposed to work.

its supposed to work that way coz it is convienent for u . so when the opposite happens u look the other way and deny it and try ignore it. or worse make excuses for it . well 2 can play aat that game. ive read a few testimonies of hindus convertin into christianity and from what they had to say of hinduism it dint look like they were aware of even the basics of hindu scripture . so ur not gettin any real converts either!!!!!!

People that leave Jesus and do not return were not ever His in the first place. They were just playing church.

so missionaries and pastors were just playin church????? thank you for your insight.

Would this be a 'No True Scotsman' argument? Someone doesn't fit into your experience of what a Christian should be, so therefore they were never a Christian? No offensive, just trying to understand this type of argument.

crowncaster............ thank you for your "nice" pm.

u think that u are a true bible believin christian. u seem unaware that the bible tells u not to judge people and to cast stones only if ur sinless. u are doin a good job of judgin other christians . ur also judgin ex christians and passing judgements on them even though u dont know anythin about their personal stories. ur also castin stones at peoples behaviour though u urself are not sinless.....
