• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evolutionists, please respond.

Hehe I know I was just being silly. Seriously though, it seems dumb people are actually reproducing faster so maybe we are all actually getting dumber... unless intelligence isn't as genetic as I fear it is.
There could be some truth to that. Because we have social safety nets (which I'm not arguing against), lack of intelligence may no longer play a role in determining who can and cannot successfully reproduce.
There's nothing like a good science book to lower the birth rate, is there? ;)

What´s the question?
Farmer Brown has ten cows.

He sells some of them ... now he has twelve cows.

How many cows did Farmer Brown sell?

(This is a legitimate question I made up in my spare time.)

Some. I've highlighted where the answer is contained in the question.

Did it take you long to make it up?

Your answer is incorrect.

Hint: If you think of it as an equation, the answer should come to you.

I recently asked our pastor's 14 year-old son-in-law, and he answered it as soon as I finished the question.

(But he has an unfair advantage -- he's homeschooled. ;))

So he sold -2 cows? Or, rather, he sold none and bought 2? Or he sold 1 and bought 3? Or sold 2 and bought 4?

No, my answer is 100% correct given the information you provided. It may not be the answer you're after, but it is a correct answer.

Married at 14? Is that legal where you live?

That is correct.
Actually it's incorrect. You stated that farmer Brown sold some of the 10 cows he had, not that there was simply a change in the number of cows. So he must have sold >= 1 <= 10 of the cows had originally had. -2 does not fall into that range of numbers.

Go homeschooling!

You justify it any way you want, Bungle_Bear.

I'm not going to change your grade, just because you think the question should be worded your way.

I didn't ask you to change the wording. I simply pointed out that the answer you consider to be correct is, in fact, incorrect for the question as you worded it. I'm perfectly happy with the wording of the question, just not happy with your incorrect answer.

You just can't admit you're wrong, can you?

Then, on average, you're content with it?

Avoiding the question again. Remember this interaction from just 2 days ago?
The typical "I'll completely ignore the question and focus on something irrelevant" response. Good work
I put up with that a lot from others here.
You're one of the worst offenders.
I'd like you and the others who do it to break that nasty habit. Answer the question before you head off down a different track.

So let's try again. You just can't admit you're wrong, can you?

How does one sell -2 cows? One could buy two cows, but your question specifically mentioned selling cows. And if the question allows for the buying of cows, there are multiple answers that would be correct.

If you have a better answer ... by all means ... let's hear it.
