CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The way you put it makes it sound ridiculous, for one reason being that what you said isnt so and doesnt make sense.
I dont care to ridicule the bible. It is too bad that your understanding of science is so thin that you can only parody and ridicule; seriously, and no insult intended, you really dont know anything about the subject,or you wouldnt say the things you do, like "science decided".
A person can understand things outside the bible wihout any disrespect to what is written. And for my taste, a person's intellectual life would be the richer for it.
Its fine if you dont choose to think the earth is old. Your biz. However, if a person looks with some care at the evidence for age, you have to either accept that it is that old, or concoct something like 'embedded age" to account for the vast evidence for the earth being very very old.
A historical geology book maybe.. its a big topic. You might find it very interesting, really. Knowing how the features of the landscape formed adds something to a drive thru the couintryside, if nothing else.
Back to apes and crocodiles. I just got thru saying that crocodiles have changed! But they are still crocodiles. Apes have changed too. But they are still apes, if somewhat different ones. Everything does change over time, tho some less than others.
Gorillas are probably as different from the apes of 5 million years ago as people are. The camels of today are not like the camels one digs from the badlands in Kansas. Etc and so on.

Hmmmm are you speaking of God + Jesus + Holy Spirit = 1 ??? which some have referred to as being 1 + 1 + 1 = 1
Well I've actually seen it explained better as 1 x 1 x 1 = 1

Suffice it to say though, It indeed says when the universe was created, Who created it, how it was created, where it was created, why it was created, what order it was created in, and even who the eyewitnesses were.
And It says it in writing.

Since you asked so nicely . . . You're wrong. You're wrong about the U.S. Bill of Rights making pogroms illegal -- the Bill of Rights does nothing to limit the ability of states to carry out pogroms, and you're wrong about the U.S. being the only country to have a bill of rights in its constitution. Greece, South Africa and Brazil, for example, all have enumerations of rights incorporated in their constitutions that would seem to provide at least at much protection as the U.S. Bill of Rights does (when extended by the 14th Amendment) against pogroms. (Some of these constitutional protections might be considered inferior to the U.S. version in other respects, however. The Brazilian constitution, for example, explicitly prohibits torture, inhuman and degrading treatment, thus preventing the Brazilian government from engaging in activities allowed in more civilized nations.)

No, I mean that the Bible says one thing, and you'll believe it, whether it's true or not.
If you want to get into the realms of mathematics, I can prove you wrong much better than I can without it, so I wouldn't suggest it. I can explain 2+2=4 vs 2+2=5, if you so wish, but it's serious effort. 'Specially when it'll take at least 3 attempts before you understand it, even remotely.
Oh, and AV, just because it says it in writing doesn't make it so. Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit have the entire history of Middle Earth in writing, but you wouldn't commit your life to that, would you?

Which is probably the flip side for you, you (not meaning you in particular) demand Christians to prove those are Gods words. And no matter what proof is shown it's disputed.
It's easy for me to argue science, because it's plain and simple for me, I don't believe part of it. But me not believing in scientist holds no consequences besides being called ignorant, stubborn, lazy, etc.

How many diseases have you been vaccinated against?
Have you caught smallpox, before?
How often do you jump in a car, or turn a light on, or cook food in the microwave?
I could provide millions of things science has done for you. To reject science is to reject every single one of them, in which case, you'd be living in the middle of a forest, or a desert, or a jungle, with nothing but a stone axe. With an immune system subsceptable to almost every fatal disease known to man. You'd die no older than 30, if you were lucky.
You're living in a world where science is constantly making human life better and better, and you're so blinded by the bible that you take the things that the science you don't "believe in" has given you for granted.
If you don't "believe" in science, then perhaps it's best for humanity if you skulked back into the dark ages, where you'd feel right at home with everyone else who doesn't demand proof that the bible is telling the truth, and all just believe it without question, and have a jolly good old time burning innocent old ladies. Because you clearly don't belong in this age, where Christianity's lost it's power and the science you don't "believe in" is making everyone's lives easier, healthier and longer.

Oh, dont be too quick to assume how other people see things, and what sorts of understandings they have! Like "demanding proof"! Some thing sneed to be proved, and others dont.
I dont care where the ten commandments came from, i need no proof that they are valid.
Of COURSE "proof is disputed" whenever it is offered! That is human nature, and it is exatly how the science, or the courts for that matter, operate. If it is good proof, it will stand. If it is not, it wont. Simple.
Take the Noahs Ark story for example. Someone says it happens; I say it didnt. Ok...the only proof is what is written down. i want hard evidence that there was a flood.
You can find fossil trilobite tracks, you can find ancient raindrop splatters hardened into stone. Rread the record of the rocks! There is no (zero) evidence of a flood. Oughte to be huge amounts of evidence everywhere. Find the evidence, I will believe it. Geologists have been over and drilled into the earth in astonishing detail.... no evidence for a flood. So, I dont belive that there was one. "God cleaned up the mess " is one explanation. Far fetched? You tell me.
Bible shows Pi as 3.0; i know it isnt so. So i dont believe that either.
On the flip side of no matter what proof is shown it is disputed....biblical literalists wont accept that evidence.
Anyway, as to teaching... I love to teach, its in my blood i guess. I'd enjoy showing you or anyyone who cares to learn, some of the things i find interesting about geology or biology.
