Tell that to those here who criticize my lack of "expertise".
Tell them what? That if you haven't made any effort to learn more about a car than where to stick the key, you're not going be in a position to determine the reason the front end is shaking at 70 mph?

We both view an eyeball. You see evolution, I see design. There's no point is going any further...east is east and west is west.
You see design (and poor design at that) because you don't understand the process that led to the evolution of the eye.

All I see is the eye as it exists today. What do you see?

If this happens I take my car to my mechanic. He'll tell me why it's shaking.

Do you trust him even if you don't necessarily understand everything he tells you? Why or why not?

I pretty much understand the mechanical parts of my car. It's the electronics that I don't understand.

I have little choice, but I can get a second opinion if I have doubts. I have an oil leak that Midas said they can't fix. So I took it to Ford, and they told me the same thing.
Do you at any point decide that Midas and Ford are both wrong and that it must be something else based on your reading of an auto maintenance manual that you didn't understand?

I stopped fixing my cars myself years ago. I bring it in in the morning, drive away with a loaner, return later to pick it up. Love it.

Great. Can you answer the question?

Nope. I accept their diagnoses.

There is a point in going further: figuring out the how.

Can you explain how the eyeball was designed and created?

And yet, hundreds of thousands of scientists, from all relevant disciplines, of all religious backgrounds and none, tells you that evolution is the way life developed on earth, but they're wrong and your "gut feeling," based on information you freely admit you don't understand, is right?

I don't understand how they can come to that conclusion.

Just because you don't understand how they came to that conclusion does not mean your gut is right and they are wrong.

Do you doubt Ford and Midas just because you don't understand how they came to their conclusion that your oil leak can't be fixed?

I said that imo it is wrong, and, that I don't believe it. If you have proven to your satisfaction that it's right more power to you. Who am I to tell someone that what they believe is wrong. Closely held beliefs are hard to pry away from people.

Science has nothing to with belief.

Dont try to set your ignorance on par with scientific research and data.

I know why both came to that conclusion...it would cost too much. Any oil leak can be fixed, but at what cost. It's ironic that you should have mentioned "shaking at 70 mph". That's a recent development with my car. Midas wants $2400 to fix it. The whole front end is shot, but the car has nearly 400,000 miles on it. I'll nurse it along until I buy a new car.

You said that your view was an informed guess. You also said that you're uniformed about the subject. Which is it?

"Sorta" (kinda) informed.

My belief are "steady state" while scientific theories are in constant flux. Your people should make up their minds about things. ;)

Religious beliefs tend to be in constant flux as well; they change over time as society and cultures themselves change. If you had been born to a different culture in a different time, you'd likely have different religious beliefs.
