Please tell me why all the monkeys on earth did not evolve into homo sapiens. (There is no need to repeat the mantra: You just don't understand evolution. You probably don't either.)

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Populations evolve, not individuals. Diversity of species comes when one part of a population is isolated from another in a different environment under different environmental pressures. There is nothing in the theory of evolution that says that all parts of a population much evolve into another species just because one part of it does. Monkeys are well adapted to their environment. They are much better at living in trees than we would be.statrei said:

Species spread out into new environments all the time. Besides, it wasn't monkeys where the split happened. We share a common ancestor with other current apes that was not a monkey.

As for why a particular species might go in different directions, this is very simple: different specific groups of that species faced different selection pressures. As the various groups spread, those particular groups which happened to enter into areas which required new skills or attributes either developed them or died out. Those that developed them became distinct from their parent and sister species. This distinction led them down a different path as changes built upon changes.
