CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Maybe you're not angry, but you are kind of angsty. When I was a teenager, there were angsty atheists who were rebelling against their Christian parents and there were angsty Christians who loved picking fights with those angsty atheists. Angst everywhere. Angst!

Perhaps. But my God's bigger than me and has everything under control, so when it all boils down, I'm extremely happy.

Religion means a set of beliefs, a set of guidelines for one to live by, a lifestyle, perspective, attitude, towards things. Religion means one's lifestyle. We all have it but some people try their best to rid themselves from such a label because they want to be associated with other people.
Most people use the term religion in it's strictest definition to only mean a belief into supernatural things of some sorts. Yet, a belief in the unprovable unseen world is only one side of the coin: the other side is a pledge to the seeable & provable world of science, technology, & things like that.

God allowed science. He allows His folks to use it. Knowledge that is good comes from above. So called science, that is, where 'science' is used to claim godless alternatives to creation, is NOT science. It is falsely called science.

Wow - this thread moved fast in a day. Did we finally conclude that evolution was a lie while all the other discoveries of science (germ theory, electromagnetism, aerodynamics, etc...) were ok because they didn't contradict our sacred book?

Once the world's scientists have the Mark, they will convince the common people to take it -- (science is very convincing).

The Catholic Church teaches deistic evolution. That is, it acknowledges evolution but affirms that God is the originator of the process.
I know an evangelic Christian who is also a biologist. He has been trying to disprove evolution for years, but he tells me the evidence, especially recent developments, is too strong.
