  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Arguments from incredulity are fallacious.

so such atheists are fallaciously calling themselves that? I accept that, however it's still atheism nonetheless; or at least ignorance over what religion they want to be a part of.

As for us, if we don't have a clue, we can at least say that. A lack of knowledge is not something to be ashamed of. And we certainly feel no need to fill a gap of knowledge with magical thinking.

Atheistic Science is digging away at trying to uncover our origins with a spoon.

And the irony that you used a simple keyboard to transmit your message about the absurdity of science around the globe (in an instant!) is duly noted.

It's absurd that science & technology came about by chance & time.

My school (schools in America are renowned secular establishments of educational procrastination and occasional learning) doesn't have spoons; we have sporks. Try diggin' in mystery meat with a 75% spoon, 10% fork!

I have no idea what you mean.

"Im an atheist because I don't want to be a Christian" (I'm unwilling to believe in God even though I do, I just don't want to admit it for some reason, be it understandable or not)

Is this what you think an atheist is?

Nope, an atheist is a person who doesn't believe in God (be it by belief or practice). It does not matter their reason for disbelief. If you don't eat a cookie, is it because you know it's poison or because you're full from the chicken you just had? It doesn't matter. You chose not to eat the cookie.

Missed the whole point, didn't you?

Have you seen my Mariana Trench thread?

Unless you have been there yourself, in person, then all you are doing is accepting the words, pictures, graphs, videos, and whatever other software others have generated.

Just like we do the Bible.

Don't call what you believe 'science' and what we believe 'faith' and expect us to agree with you.

I choose not to eat a cookie that has no evidence to support it was ever baked.

See the difference?

Which point? The one where James Cameron said, if you don't believe I went to the Mariana Trench, you'll burn in hell for eternity? Never mind the fact that you have access to the trench like anyone else.

See the difference?

Don't call what you believe 'fact' and what we believe 'faith,' and expect us to agree with you.

Nope, just because it was baked even before you were born (which of course analogically destroys itself), it doesn't mean the cookie wasn't baked. Did you know that the cookie is a raspberry, chocolate macadamia nut flavor? Wonderful!

I mean, I see your point. You think the cookie was never baked, because the cookie isn't sizzling, rising, or steaming.

So you'll be the first to sign the petition to encourage American schools to teach philosophical ideologies and the thought processes so more people can understand the world better?

I don't follow.

Some are also atheists because they want to rebel against God (crazy, I know, but people like that do exist).
Some are also atheists (get this) because their parents are! Now atheism is as dangerous to youth as religion is! (0, just wanting to inform advocates of neoatheism, which strongly dislikes religion and anyone within, basically religophobes)

Are you in high school? You seem like an angry teenager.

Any time one can come to understand another's POV, is success.

Correct:
  • It stops wars
  • It prevents wars at the very least
  • It is defined as tolerance in dictionaries.
  • It is a great comminication skill
  • It provides great conversations and progress.
