CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Who says only 5% of the ocean floor has been mapped? I have seen quite extensive maps of the ocean floor. Now of course it has not been visually mapped since we can't see it and light cannot penetrate that much water. That does not stop people from mapping it with other methods.

Your post is erroneous. The Cambrian Explosion is the hallmark of evolution. But then again, when one buries ones' head in Cambrian marine strata, its pretty hard to realize that there is non-marine strata as well.

Also - and someone with more expertise can correct me if I'm wrong - but as I understand, most Cambrian creatures are rather soft things. You know...the sort of creatures that don't do well under extreme water pressure, like you find in the ocean depths.

How would you know if a sea creature had gone extinct if you haven't examined all of the sea?

Sometimes you can just use simple math and statistics. As in how many there would have to be if they weren't extinct.

You're missing the point.
The prensence of plants in Cambrian strata pretty much nix your assertion that the Cambrian represents a deep sea environment.

The Cambrian is where many of the hard bodied critters first appeared, in fact all modern phyla except for one (Bryozoa). And in fact, there are many soft-bodies creatures in the ocean depths today. The thing is, they don't do well out of their environment.

If they were found down there, they would HAVE to have evolved in order to withstand the immense pressure of the deep.
Either way you are dead in the water (heh); either they aren't there, or they are there and are evolved.
