Some people have the idea that common descent is useless information. Feel free to post info about medical research that is based on understanding either common descent or natural selection

Natural selection nor mutation is equal to evolution in the sense of emergence or specia(liza)tion of organ(ism)s.

I’ll start with the smallpox vaccine. Not only did modern people get the cowpox virus in the vaccination ( common descent) but the original vaccine used by Jenner was a weakened natural version of smallpox ( microevolution ) . The cowpox virus and the smallpox virus are so closely related that human immune systems can’t tell the difference

Evolution based medical research 2

the polio vaccines . There are 3 versions of polio . The original vaccine was a weakened live virus ( micro evolution) . Natural Poliomyelitis #2 is now extinct and the others are going

Mutations and (natural) selection of mutations does not equal evolution in the sense of the (special) theory of evolution. and / or Darwinism.

Antibiotics

Antibiotics especially the early ones are based on antibacterial chemicals derived from fungi. Animals and fungi are very closely related which is why these work in animal bodies . Both Penicillin and streptomycin were named for the fungus they came from

Related? Nah.
which is why these work in animal bodies
Because they're related they work in animal bodies, or because they work in animal bodies they are related regarding the functioning of the digestive or immune (or other) system?

Yes, biology is a fascinating science. :)

What you mean is called genetics, i think.
Or at least, it used to be called that...
. Jenner lived in the 1700s and he didn’t understand genetics . He made an observation that people who got smallpox once never caught it again. He used the scabs from mild cases to infect new people. Later he observed that people who had had cowpox never caught smallpox either . He didn’t know why this protected people from getting the disease but we do

So because he didn't know it's not genetics?

That's why it's called a vaccine.
The word is derived from the Latin word for cow, iirc that's Vacca. In French it's Vache.
I'm no biology buff, but isn't it amazing that the immune system can learn, recognize and eliminate virusses?

I still can't figure out why we would evolve a lack of hair over millions of years, just so we can all die in the winter of freezing, and be required to fabricate clothing to make up for our continuously dying of freezing......

. Fungus derived antibacterials protect fungi from disease bacteria by killing the bacteria. They work by weakening the bacterial cell wall as it fissions. The bacterium basically bursts open . Because animals (including humans ) are very closely related to fungi these antibacterials work inside our bodies without harming us . Obviously the medical research community has treated these natural antibacterials to reduce side effects if any .

humans lost their hair because we evolved as long distance runners . If we still had hair we’d die of heat exhaustion. Some hunters gatherer humans still hunt by running animals to death. If you ran most dogs or even a deer in a modern marathon it would die

. fungi and animals are cousins. This is THE reason fungal infections are so hard to treat

biology is fascinating and common descent had enough evidence to support it 150 years ago that modern biologists just accept it .

Common descent is used for medical and surgical research . The cause of diabetes was originally discovered in dogs. An early treatment was also discovered in dogs. Human diabetics used to be given pig and cow insulin when I was a kid . Human insulin was very very rare. The only reason doctors thought that humans could be given non-human insulin is because we are cousins to all other animals that use insulin.

This surgical procedure was originally done in dogs and has saved thousands of children’s lives over the decades . Common descent ! Humans and dogs have almost identical hearts except for size.

Right....
You mean actual science in that field of beliefs stopped 150 years ago...
Never mind how much has been discovered between then and now, basically proving the whole Darwinism idea is impossible.

Common manufacturer rather than common descent.
There's no way in heck that the differences between the species (such as dogs, humans and pigs) came about unintended by natural selection of data corruption.
Yes of course they bare similarities.
They're all mammals.
But as long as there's no plausible natural explanation for accidental (as opposed to intentional) emergence of purposeful DNA for purposeful traits that they don't share among eachother, it's just a naturalistic assumption to replace what man has always known: special creation.
But in our civilisation, it is decided that God has to go.
This was the Enlightenment...
A submission to the our Lucid pal Lucifer.
But i digress...
