what is it with christians calling rock evil???Its one of the best genres!!i mean let me just list some of the great bands in rock:

1. KISS

2. ACDC[ROCK!!}

3 Black Sabbath[Ozzy RULES!!]

4. Cheap Trick[the creators of power pop]

5. The Rolling Stones

6. The Beatles[of course]

7. Motley Crue[they have started to suck lately though]

8. Mettalica[they started to suck a long time ago]

9. Buddy Holly and The Crickets

i mean the list goes on and on!!

to call it evil is just stupid!

i agree. it gets old hearing Christians say it is the music of the heathens. what music out there doesn't have non-christians liking it? even non-christians like some of the Christian bands. there's something weird eh? it's music, and that's all.

but the same argument goes with other things too.

I think the most commonly probed part is it's lyrics. For instance the whole sex, drugs, and rock and roll attitude often displayed in lyrics. However, I don't think many christians think a sound can actually sound evil, unless they're really really dumb.

when i was younger, even younger in my own faith in God, i remember reading a book that talks about the sound sounding evil, because it sounds like the non-christian bands. and for about a month at that time, i stopped listening to that style of Christian music to think about it. yea it lasted a month. at the time i was only like 15 i think? and now i'm a metal head, go figure

I can see the reason for offense by certain lyrics and not by others. I fail to see why a christian should complain about Girls Girls Girls by Motley Crue when they can complain about Kill The Christian by Deicide.

people should be offended by things like insults not lyrics.now there are some songs that ARE offensive but there not really famous or popular.there also not very good songs[sounding i mean].being offended by things like Highway to Hell[ACDC] or Sweet Leaf[Black Sabbath]is just dumb

oh.

offensive songs have never gotten popular. Songs that target certain groups of people have never gotten popular. and insults aren't ever included in popular lyrics.

Platypus (I Hate You) by Green Day is a very popular song and it's full of insults.

Music, like everything, has the capacity to spread anti-Christian ideas. We need need to be alert, but not alarmed. Quite often, if we kick up a huge stink about something, it just brings more attention to it.

what do you think evil is. As a christian, i know what the bible says about evil. But as an atheist, i'd like to know what you believe evil is, if anything at all.

I'm not trying to start anything. i'm genuinely curious. how you answer this question will determine what advice i will give you, which will help you next time a christian tells you that rock is evil.
