  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Scott got off the boat he was angry and confused at the same time. He rode into the camp and to his tent he told his second in command Johnathan to prepare 100 of his best men and be ready to leave in the morning. He had meeting with the heads of army and told them of atlas's plans and that he would be leaving them again. He gave orders for the army to be ready to march at a drop of the hat and then he went back to his tent.

ooc: Bit of information, your army is all but oblilerated boxers. There are only about fifty humans and fifteen elves, also your second in command (apparently) and sampson's General. In addition Yitai is levelled.
I plan on posting tonight. Don't count on it, but tick me off sharply if I don't any way.

ooc: Well, that cool. I should be in drama again but my new director didn't know I'd be back. Time to start attempting to help her direct again...:D
Then there's my insane desire to act in three parts written for at least sixteen year olds...gotta look for a loophole there. Well I need to get back to the post...

ooc: I did it. It took me long enough but I think I finished it.
ic:
Earlier that day things had not been peaceful at all. Exeter was in a very uncomfortable position. Vlasdimir entered his suite quickly, as usual.
The room was dark; the only light was several dim lamps around a desk it was reflected by several mirrors.
Apart from Vlasdimir Exeter was the only one in the room.
On the desk was a model of the land, with many wooden figurines modeled after Atlas, Kelliana, Zhashban, Daethalion and others who had interacted with Exeter.
Vlasdimir had always disliked the model, he thought it childish.
Exeter, I have news.”

“Of course you do. Daethalion is no longer an asset. You are far to slow with you information.”

“But what are we to do?”

“We, Vlasdimir? Nothing. You are going to place a wolf’s head on Daethalion. Cut him off from the People. In addition place a bounty on his head. Four hundred thousand should do it.”

Exeter! He isn’t a liability; he just doesn’t understand our goal…”

“On the contrary, he understands it perfectly. Though he obviously does not understand who he is competing with, but it truly doesn’t matter. Remove him.”

“Yes…master.”

So saying Vlasdimir vanished, as quickly as a shadow fleeing the sun, and twice as quietly.

As he left Exeter smiled softly as he lifted and moved the wooden figurines, he lifted that of Daethalion and that of Vlasdimir.

“Ah yes, my taste is arguable. Perhaps not as fitting as I could have done it, but it worked out well. Very well. Good bye Vlasdimir, you were helpful for while,” so saying he snapped the model of Vlasdimir’s head from its shoulders.

“Cramor, have our old friend Vlasdimir removed. Permanently.”

A small man, hooded in the black robes of the Monks of Kra’Akken emerged, bowed deeply and vanished once again into the shadows.

Exeter was once again seemingly alone. As he leaned over the model of the empire he reached his hand into the elaborately carved fireplace and removed a flaming piece of firewood,

“I must admit, Atlas, I enjoyed the charade. Just like old times. I hate to end the fun, but the joke’s wearing thin. At last it is time for the war to begin.” Dropping the fire into his model he watched as the blaze consumed Camador, moving on to take the rest of the eastern countries with it.

Vlasdimir walked through the city he was not happy, he had just sent message to the secondary leader of the People of Dis, giving the news of Daethalion’s exile. He was angered, Daethalion was not his ally, but as of yet he had no reason to distrust him and what he had would certainly dissolve all loyalty with his kinsman.
He was beginning to pant, he was tired. Possibly for the first time in his life, he was exhausted.
He thought it was merely fatigue, he working more than most, even if they were the people of Dis. But now he realized. It was Styx Water. He had been poisoned, but by whom? Could Atlas’ know the truth?
Before he could think about it more a slash of silver against the black night interrupted his thoughts, his reflexes saved him.
He dodged back quickly, flipping back he met a second Monk, he attempted to dodge him but, with his reflexes slowed by the
Styx water he was caught off guard.
A third scimitar impaled him.
The other two quickly removed his head.

“Tell his Excellency Lord Exeter that the anomaly has been removed.” Said the largest

When Cramor returned to Exeter he was surprised to be greeted by a fire that consumed Exeter’s model.
Exeter quickly doused the fire.
Cramor relayed the “good” news.

“Excellent. I should be able to find a suitable replacement. One who will not believe that I am weak enough to actually fall for the exiled queen of an all but extinct civilization, if he was as gullible as that he would have failed again. Which he did, with Daethalion, though with such a fool as Vlasdimir out of the way he may yet be an asset, if he does not realize it of course.”

Later that day Atlas stood quietly, letting Zhashban speak for him. He knew what would be necessary to do later on, but now he was waiting. After Obacai’s speech however he found it important to say one thing. Standing he said it, he had the political power as the Lord of Avalon to do it so the only thing holding him back was the fact he could offend the King. The result was he chose his words carefully

“My lord, I must bring forth one simple fact. There is an upcoming war, one we have not seen the likes of since Atlantis. While your kingdom is the greatest in terms of art, culture, commerce, trade, business and knowledge is by far the greatest, your power in war and your size are greatly challenged by your neighbors.
You’re skills as leaders are remarkable but even they can not face the sheer brute size of the brewing force.
If you do not choose an alliance, then it is possible your great country falls and your memory tainted.”

The bringing up of his memory would instantly change whatever his opinion previously was. He now would choose alligence with who ever had the strongest military. And while
Exeter was rich, and politically more powerful than any others his miltia was remarkably weak. Atlas had check.

*After Kelli had slept off her headache she washed and did her hair in curls and put on a slight amount of makeup. When she emerged from her room, she glowed. Atlas wanted ehr to watch Exeter, she'll watch him all right.* Here's to you Atlas. *She quickly set out to find Exeter at a nearby inn. She got into his room easily, charming her way into the innkeeper's heart. Sitting in a comfortable chair by the warm fire she waited.*

ooc: Oooo, seduction!

ooc: It's good to be back guys. I missed this. I feel I should say, however that coming unanounced into Exeter's chamber you have, at best taken your life into your hands, he has at least three snipers constantly trained on that room. But I'll check and see what Exeter did and reply.

(((Um... You may want to postpone the killing of Vlasdimir, since he is, at present, in the same room with Exeter, Atlas, and the King, and it would really just make an awkward scene if he had no head.
Pity, though. I wanted Daethalion to kill him later in an epic duel, but oh well. Daethalion won't be happy when he learns about this.)))

The king leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers together. "Very well," he said with a sigh, "I will give my consent on one accord: I have recently heard of a barbarian lord who has placed a bounty on my throne. Not that such an insignificant threat worries me, but I would not deal with inept assassins out to profit on my death. Bring me the head of the barbarian lord, and you have your alliences. But, you must both go, or neither of you will have your allience. By this, I shall know your trustworthiness, and, if what you say is true, Athos, the help I may receive from your armies.
Exeter immediately protested, "Your highness, urgent matters press for my attention, and I cannot afford to deviate from these matters."
"Send an emissary, then," the king replied, "but one of your side must go, or I shall hear no more talk of alliences."
Daethalion stood quickly, bowing his head, "Your honor, I will go for Villefort, if you will grant it."
The king focused toward him. "Maxim, these proceedings do not involve you. Why would you thus volunteer."
"You honor, as I said, it is my purpose to watch the hands of fate, and these are fateful agreements. I also said that I intended to help Athos if possible, and if Villefort will not go, Athos will need someone to seal the conditions of the allience. Thus, I will go to assist, if it please you."
"It pleases me well, Maxim. You are of a noble sort, I have no doubt." Here the king turned to Obacai and Atlas. "Athos, what say you to the allience?"

((Hmm...yeah...if he's dead, how is he at the meeting? But, I don't know what to post because this is more of a question for Atlas to answer, not Zhash... Wait, should I start controlling those Elven generals again so that Scott actually has someone to interact with?))

((He hasn't done any thing in the room. Just ignore him and pretend he wasn't there. Other wise why wouldn't Vlasdimir go instead of Dae?? And yes, if you want to sampson. And I know Daethalion wouldn't like it that is one reason I did it.))

"My lord I most graciously accept any assistance that Daethalion offers" Atlas replied

Gavin brushed the final bits of debris from his still blood-soaked shirt. Faces were not cheery as the leaders of the various armies stood there in the middle of the ruined city of Yitai. Scott, one of Atlas' most trusted friends, had just arrived. Falil, Remial, the dwarven king, several of the Dwarf-king's leading commanders, and the three remaining captains of Gavin's army were also in attendance.

Gavin broke the terrible silence that was almost worse than the destruction around them, "What are we to tell Atlas? His most promising capital city has just been reduced to crumbling ruins. It would take years, nay, decades to rebuild. His armies are dead. In fact, if it weren't for the help of the dwarves, the city would have been in the hands of the enemy." Gavin looked to Scott, He has just come back from Atlas. He might know how Atlas would respond, "What's the best way to break this to Atlas, Scott?"

(((Ok, well, I editted post 859 in a somewhat comedic manner. I suggest it be read, but I didn't change anything important. I just essentually remover Vlasdimir. Also, I do not really have much to say, so I'll just have the king say some things.)))

"Very good then," the king said, clapping his hands twice. "It is settled, if Athos and Maxim bring me the barbarian's head, then we have an accord. If not, I do not agree to the allience."
"Your magnificence," Exeter began to protest, "I must request that--"
"The matter is settled, Villefort. I will hear no more of it. Now, I believe Maxim, you said you wanted to see the courtesy of my house? Well, I prepare to show you. Bring the feast!"
Clapping twice once more, the servants came out carrying a large quantity of foods.

Zhashban mentally gave a great sigh of relief. The meeting had not gone exactly to plan, but well enough in his estimation. It would not be difficult to take out this barbarian king, and then the other matters of the alliance could be worked out rather easily. Rubbing his hands together, Zhashban waited until all the food was served before publicly thanking the King for his hospitality, "What wonderful food! Truly you are a man of taste!"

As he and the others ate, Zhash moved his eyes between Villefort and Maxim. They were the only other two in the room who might have something up their sleeves besides he and Athos. Zhash wondered what Maxim could possibly be up to that allowed him to suddenly take on the task of killing a barbarian king. Zhash also wondered where Villefort's servant was, who was always there before that morning.

Scott looked around at ruins. Just weeks ago this had been a thriving city. He looked at Gavin " Send a bird to Atlas with a message but don't sign it and don't use his name he's in a very tight situation at the moment." He looked around at the survivors " I need volenteers to escourt me I have to find some people and I need a gaurd. It's a volunteer assignment I leave as soon as I can find some horses if you want to join me follow me" he walked off looking for horses.

Gavin motioned for one of his captains to do as Scott had said, but then declined Scott's offers, "I'm afraid I will have to stay here and attempt to help in the clean up process as much as possible."

Falil chimed in at that moment, "I, however, will be joining you. I have no where else to go for now. I do not wish to return to Byros right now. Their mournings are too great right now to tell them the news."

Falil strode after Scott, then caught up to him and pointed down one of the streets, "Here, come this way. The stables are nearly spent, but a few horses still remain that will serve you well."

A few hours later a pigeon with the message bearing the bad news flew from Yitai over the sea towards Avon.
