  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

(((All right...I'm not exactly certain what to do, but I'll go for it nonetheless.)))

Daethalion made has way from the king's palace toward the place he had lodged the last night. He had taken his belongings from the hotel that morning after learning about the styx water. He refused to lodge in the same place as Exeter. In fact, this event had changed many things. If it were not for Vlasdimir, to whom he had vowed his help, he would altogether dismiss this villain. As it was, he had determined to remove his troops from Exeter's territory at once. Twice he looked back, having the feeling someone was following him, but when he looked, he saw no one.
He finally stopped on his lonely strip of the beach.
"Are you prepare to master the workings of Fate?" asked the aggitated voice of Atlas from behind him.
He smiled, the smile of a fox. "So be it," he said calmly.

Did Atlas even understand the words he spoke? Master the working of Fate? This was Fate; they two.
The rebuilding of Atlantis was also fate. It would be like the story of the the wolf and the lion, in which the wolf, having stolen a lamb from a fold, was carrying him off to his lair. A lion met him in the path, and seizing the lamb, took it from him. Standing at a safe distance, the wolf exclaimed, "You have unrightly taken that which was mine from me!" To which the lion replied, "It was rightly yours, eh? The gift of a friend?"
The power of Atlantis should be no man's, by right. If anything it was stolen by them from the higher powers. He, Daethalion, would be the one to take it back once it was rebuilt.

"When do you wish to leave?"
"Immediately."
Daethalion sighed, "Very well. Let me gather my belongings."
"You have an hour."
After gathering his belongings and changing into something a bit more flashy, he accompanied Atlas to the docks.
After Atlas had spoken to a few bargemen with no success, Daethalion decided to speak up, "You seem to be having a bit of trouble. Would you like a hand?"

"Do I need a hand? No that is the last thing I am needing. What I need is a bargeman who can be easily bought. I had no less than two dozen of them in various places along the coast and they are all missing! Either caught, killed or in a prison for drunken revels!"

Atlas was ill tempered, the pain was worse than ever now. He took a pinch of his medicine and inhaled it.
The spinning feeling of the pain began to die down and his thoughts began to work a bit clearer.
"It is more difficult now, but I am sure we will find some one. Gold does wonders, liquid gold still more so."

occ I kinda need guidance I don't know what to do
((All right, sorry, I never told you that Falil is a guy. Just made up the name, as well. Anyways, Falil is following Scott. Actually, Falil is taking Scott to the stables because Scott said he needed a horse. I don't know what you had in mind, but you said you needed a horse.))

Zhash simply soaked in Atlas' instructions as they came. He no longer needed suggestions, tips, or further directions. When everything was finished, in fact, Zhash realized that all he needed was some money and a way off the island. How his influence in Camador would help the cause, Zhash was not completely sure of, but he knew that trusting Atlas had seemed to work so far.

As Zhash exited the dining hall, he suddenly came across Sierra. The elf was in a ball against the wall, fast asleep. Shaking Sierra a bit to wake her up, Zhash inquired, "And what might you be doing here? No matter. I may need some assistance in Camador. Would you like to come along?" Zhash stretched out his hand in an offer to help Sierra up.

((Hey, Drama, you want any relationship things going on between Sierra and Zhash, or you want me to keep Zhash unwavering in his chivalry and nobility?))

Daethalion smiled, but pulled Atlas aside and spoke in a whisper, "Listen, Athos, between you and me, we both know there is no love between us. But right now we need each other. Without me, the king would not agree to your demands. Without you, my mission cannot come to pass. Thus, it is to my advantage to help you as you need.
"I have found that often, the way to depart most unnoticed is to be the most insistant upon being noticed. I have a ship that is friendly to gold, as you say, and, if you give me leave, I can in an half-hour convince them to sail in such speldor that none shall take notice. Our enemies will not be looking for a parade, and none others will take an interest in us."
While Athos thought over his responce, Daethalion took his epee, and dug the point into his index finger as he had many times past.

((Chivalry and nobility? In Evermore? That is a funny thought, the closest thing we have to chivalry is a sado-masochistic assassin. If possible keep him loyal to Atlas, heaven knows he doesn't need any more enemies. But romance is all up to you. I encourage it.
And Rae, if the idea is to your liking feel free to go with Zhash. It will give you some thing to do that keeps the plot going. Sam I am lobbed off site so please tell Dave he may Godmod Dis while I am away))

Atlas nodded silently.

"Our enemies are quite different people Daethalion. A parade is perfect. Let us go."

ooc: Yes! I is here! Okay, I would just like to point out first of all that Sierra's not an elf, she's human, a western ambassador from across the sea. And I can work with this.

ic: *Sierra nodded and took Zhash's hand and pulled herself up. She shook out her cloak and smiled speaking with her light westerner accent* I was waiting for you. Miss Kelliana ordered me to go with you to Camador, she would have gone herself, but she looked a little drunk. I have my things packed already, so we can go whenever you are ready.

(((Ok, so I'll do it now.)))

Daethalion nodded and said, "Try to keep out of sight until I can arrange everything. Meet me on pier eight in about a quarter of an hour." With that, Daethalion walked purposefully toward a small boathouse of pier twelve. There would be everything he would need for the most discreet exit.
Within a quarter of an hour, everything from piers six to twelve was a bustle of activity. With musicians practicing, catering crews, decorators, crewmen, performers, and otherwise, no one noticed the two man discussing their departure flambuantly on the deck of the grandest ship.
In another quarter, Daethalion prepared to give a short speech. "After all," he reasoned, "No one remembers who gave the speech so long as the party contunues after they leave."
He stood on the prow of the ship. "Friends of Avalon, it has been the greatest honor, privilege, and wonderment to participate in the Tournament of Kings."
A general applause erupted from the crowds below.
"Sadly, I must leave your city on a mission for your king. But I will not rest until I have returned in splendor, in glory, and above all, in victory!"
The cheers of the crowd barely overpowered the thunderous rupture of applause.
Daethalion held a hand for silence. "You have been marvelous hosts, and I will mourn every moment appart. For now, however, I must go. Hail Fortune, hail Fate, hail Avalon!"
As the flags unfurled their splendor, the sheer sound of the crowd made the boat rock back and forth.
As Daethalion passed Atlas on his way to the hold, he muttered, "Humans are such foolish and gullible creatures. I cannot wait to have this city in my memories only. Even then..."

((Sorry, gonna god-mod just a bit here to get our part of the story going again.))
Zhash smiled when Sierra said that she was already ready, "Ah, good then. Let's go immediately. I do not wish to waste any more time on this assuming island. I will not regret leaving it behind, though I do wish Atlas could have come with us. No matter, he has his own business to attend to."

After picking up their things at the hotel, Sierra and Zhash headed toward the docks. Zhash had arranged for a small fishing boat to wait for them near the first dock. As Zhash and Sierra boarded the vessel, they could hear the roar and thunder of a huge party down the shore a ways. Zhash wondered what all the commotion could be about, but these thoughts soon vanished as the boat pulled out of the harbor and into the open sea.

Many hours later, a tired and weary Zhash and Sierra arrived on the docks of a large and bustling Camador. "Well, here we are. Let's get ourselves a place to sleep," Zhash sighed to Sierra. Even just riding in a boat across a sea was tiring.

*Sierra stretched* You can, I'm ready to look around. I've never been here before and I need some new traveling boots, these aren't going to hold out for even another long walk! *She indicated her thrashed boots which had served her well for many years.* Why not that inn over there? The brick one.

Zhash nodded and watched as Sierra tramped off in pursuit of new shoes. Too tired to really think, he traipsed off in the direction Sierra had pointed and looked through a few of the rooms. Satisfied, Zhash plopped a few gold coins on the keeper's desk after picking out one of the nicer complexes that had two bedrooms and a dining room in between. The dining room had a nice view of the ocean out its one window, but Zhash was too tired to notice. Dragging the few things he had inside his bedroom, Zhash undressed and plopped into the large bed, falling asleep as soon as his head hit the pillows.

((He's going to be out until the next day, or until someone wakes him up. I'm guessing that it would be evening right now.))

Zhash turned over in his bed before shouting back, "Yes, I'm awake! I'll be out in a second." Putting on fresh clothes, Zhash made a mental reminder to himself to pick up a few newer garments. The style in Camador was strikingly different than in Avalon. Zhash didn't need to get off on the wrong foot here by wearing the wrong style clothing.

Pushing his way out the door, Zhash clumsily sat into his chair, "I'm still a bit tired, but I slept well. I feel like I could take on the world right now." Zhash started to dig into the food laid out before him. A sudden hunger had consumed him.

As Zhash finished up the last of what was on his plate, he looked over Sierra who was stunningly dressed as she always was, "You sure don't look like you're not ready to take on the world." Zhash shook his head slightly, Beautiful women and their inability to believe in themselves. Ah, she was probably just being literal.

Zhash wiped his mouth with his sleeve before continuing, "So, where do you think we should go today? I think the most important thing is to meet up with these friends of Atlas that he told me about. Let's see...their names were Cador Solomon and Alicia Brightstar. Any other genius ideas for where to start? If not, let's get going."
