Actually I was at a program at the State planetarium a number of years back, and the presenter said that it was probably a comet.

It was either a shining angel or the shekinah glory of God. Comets don't move like the star of Bethlehem did.

What you fail to accept is that Eve was not literally made from his rib, you where already given so many christian sources telling you the messages behind it. The fact that you again are going as if I am denying Adam and Eve as literal people shows once again that up to now you don't understand what metaphors are. lol

Did you not read the example i gave in 358? Here another example: "Lebron James is the top dog in his team". Is he really a dog, if not then does this mean i'm saying he doesn't exist? Saying The story of Adam and Eve doesn't deny they existed it's just the details with in it are symbolic. Your last paragraph is you once again having 0 understanding of what is being told you about metaphors.
That reply already failed. I moved on.

How did the fall happen? When did the fall happen? Why did the fall happen?

Linnaeus showed that a family tree could be drawn for all living things. Only later did scientists figure out why.
You could draw a family tree that included vacuum cleaners and put man in that also I suppose.

And.......you have an issue with the canon, and it's truth?

What, as Christians, do we have to stand on, if not for the solid truth of the bible?

Again, do you think that God put things in His word that were not truth as written? What, if not the solid truth of the bible, do we have?

Actually, the bible scriptures have more manuscripts and these manuscripts were written in a way that is much closer to the actual events than ANY of the works of other secular men.... such as Plato and Socrates.

The bible was written by men of all walks of life, education levels and political stages and it's continuity is still phenomenal.

Parts of the early events and biblical account and Genesis was probably written by God, and or dictated to Moses by God.

Only because men deem them to be. Others see it as plain old straight out truth as it was written. Only those that need it to be "poetry" or "prose" deem it as such in order to fit their following of atheistic views of evolution.

Myth is myth... the bible is never described as "myth", except for those that rely on it being such in order to fit in their atheist views.

What are you saying here?

A myth, and truth?

I have no problem, whatsoever, in understanding it's actual meaning. It's pretty easy..

"Joe cut down a tree and it fell on his house" Pretty straight forward. Everyone knows what happened, without question..

The Genesis account is just that simple.

Really? Now you are going to go into detail?

More words that say nothing.

Except, Genesis is written with plain words and simply put that events happened as they were stated with no reason to believe that there is allegory. Other than those that cannot accept it due to other atheistic views.

What?

As has been explained.... Adam was made and Eve did not exist.. So, we have male without female and female was made from this male.. part of his side, while the creator put him in a deep sleep.

Not endless morphing and genetic mutation.

Good.

More verbiage.

Your point?

Your point?

None of this has any weight in supporting allegory.

If I felt this way, it would be hard for me to believe any of the scriptures were the actual word of God that I can stand on like the solid rock it is.

Scripture is not sand... It is not words from the past that "may" or "may not" be true..

However, you have plainly stated your view...

I simply don't agree and don't see it your way..

I believe it as written and see no reason as to why it would have not been possible for God to do it.... exactly as He stated that He did.

Everything is always simple for simpletons who see no nuances or complications. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Such were those who simply didn't understand the parable of the sower. It was too simple for them. Their hearts were gross, ears stopped, eyes closed, minds blocked at both ends, certain that they had understood the truth of the matter, and went away continuing in their ignorance. And many a YEC is convinced that Jesus deliberately confused them with parables. Doh!

Solutions are all simple for the average simpleton. Prov.1:22.

YEC might. One prominent YEC said that since both clouds and men were mostly water, that means men are most closely related to clouds.

edit....

On the topic od the star of Bethlehem as another poster pointed out, that moved and guided people to a house, so it was not any usual planetary body.
If you know anything about comets you know that they move, abet slowly.

You are welcome to your own ideas, no matter how weird. You are not welcome to say the bible says so.
So now my ideas are weird. Are you always so rude? Can’t you engage in polite conversation?

I have said several times in this thread that you and others in your camp are entitled to your interpretation just as I and others (in fact the majority of Christians) are entitled to our interpretation.

Sure, why not. We might add that they are even more closely related to sewage, since that contains proteins and all sorts of other stuff.

Any ideas (which include yours if you adopt them) that claim the opposite of the bible and assassinate people in the bible by claiming they were never really here, can be considered strange.

And I could say the say about any claim that the whole universe was created in six days. The difference is that I don’t say that people who believe that have strange ideas. They are entitled to their beliefs.

Here is one link, the exact times are not known, but as I said it could be up to two years.

"
All Males Under Two Are Murdered
Matthew 2:16 tells us that when Herod realized that the magi had not returned to tell him the exact location of where the Christ was living, he ordered every child two years old and younger to be murdered.

Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi. Matthew 2:16 (NASB)

Verse 16 and verse 2 tell us that Herod the Great had determined that the magi had seen the star two years earlier. Consequently, Herod murdered all children from two years of age and under. This would reveal that Jesus was about two years of age when the magi visited Him. For more information read “Are there any secular references to Herod killing babies under the age of two?”

Conclusion:
The gospel of Matthew reveals that Jesus was about two years of age when the wise men or magi visited Him. It is amazing all the information that Scripture gives us. In this case, the age of Christ is important since the information helps us understand the fulfillment of a prophecy in Jeremiah. Matthew 2:17 quotes Jeremiah 31:15.

Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:

A voice was heard in Ramah,
Weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children;
And she refused to be comforted,
Because they were no more.” Matthew 2:17 (NASB)

Matthew 2:17 helps understand why young children were murdered in the prophecy of Jeremiah 31:15. We can thank God for the many details He has given us in Scripture."
