The Bible just doesn't have the answers for everything involving science. There was no reason for God to give us details about the planets, genetics, why he gave 200+ bones, and much more evolution because the Bible was for the purpose of knowing him.

, I can't make you believe because you've grown into fundamentalism that I understand the discomfort in looking into things that you are afraid conflicts your beliefs. Listen to William L Craig, Lennox, Fr Barron and you'll find out how Evolution is not only a scientific fact but evidence on the existence of God.

Do you believe Jesus really rose from the dead on day 3 or are you like some of those "christian" sects that believe it too was a metaphor?

Not literal doesn't mean it's false. For example, i say: this boy was the top dog at his school. This is a factual statement but not literal (he isn't an actual dog), the main point was to describe his leadership. come on!
So, you're saying every time garden of Eden is mentioned in the Bible it's a metaphor?

Yes. I believe he literally rose on the 3rd day, and I accept the evidence of it through the martyrdom of the people who knew and followed him 1st handedly.

What else will the prophets or any of the writers use to make sure the readers gets the idea of what they are talking about? How about people who talked about reaching some temple at a mountain and describing it as Mt Olympus, would you take that literally?

I take the evidence of the one who rose from the grave who said Just as in the days of Noah and who also said “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female,"
Jesus also said "But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;"

Have you not read?

Allegory...as in the fall of Adam in the Garden never happened?
The story is an allegory. You are, of course, entitled to your own interpretation.

This has nothing to do with the argument, whether it be the topic of evolution or this current one in where you can't understand the meaning of "being literal".

True, the fruit juice had nothing todo with it. It was an act of disobedience.

It is true, we all sin but your religion fails to explain why.

If God used evolutionism to create mankind, when did sin enter? You said when the evolving population could think....but have absolutely no biblical support. In fact it contradicts scripture.
What you have presented would have been a natural process which you make mankind guilty of rather than a disobedient choice of one man as the bible teaches.

What do you think? Can Animals sin?

Your religion also fails to explain a lot of things too.

Q. Why do you suppose a loving God but a lethal tree right in the middle of their garden, where neither of them could possibly miss it?
Q. Why then tell only Adam that it would kill him and leave him to pass on a garbled message to Eve which she then exaggerated on?
Q. What might have been the purpose of this lethal tree and why did God put it where it was, within easy reach of the people he wanted to protect?
Q. What might have happened if Adam had not eaten the fruit Eve offered him, but they had both gone to God and confessed what they had done, instead of hiding among the foliage when God came looking for them?
Q. Where on Earth would this garden be now?
Q. Does it matter?
Q. If Paradise was in Eden, what was it to the East of? (The Greenwich meridian did not exist at that time, the meridian is man made.)

Do you begin to see the problems associated with taking the story literally as a verifiable hitorical event? Rather than using it as an illustration of the results of ancestral and current disobedience to God.

There is no indication "garden of Eden" is used in that fashion. You would have every place mentioned in the Bible as some type of metaphor.

Was east of Eden a metaphor to a metaphor?

Cain didn't murder Abel?

the Bible is silent on that.

The question is, when and how did sin enter into the world? Was it like the bible informs us in Genesis or some other way? Considering you make Genesis a metaphor......tell us how.

Sorry, but the logic in this post of yours is a mess. Have you not yet understood the difference between metaphorical and fiction? The way this sounds, it's like you still think that if something is said to not be literal that means it didn't happen.

When will you present ONE verse where any of the aspects of Genesis is presented in a non-literal fashion.
For example I have presented several verses where Adam has been presented as literal. Here is that example again:
Jude 1:14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones,

Are you now saying Adam was a real person who lived in the garden of Eden that was made on day 6?

Go re-read my post in 358 explaining to you what metaphors are. Up to now, every post you've been saying is showing you still dont understand what a metaphor is. We aren't talking about Adam, we are talking about the details in genesis..just like with the example I gave with the boy in post 358. Also, this quote of mine that you are responding to is in response about how you believe the resurrection.

My point was that the metaphor actually implies the land had plentious supplies of both milk and honey. Not only that but the metaphor implies that not only milk and honey were plentiful but the land was plentifully endowed with everything the Hebrews could possibly desire.
.
Great, so you do realize that the promised land will never really be theirs till Jesus returns? So the ultimate fulfillment is to come. More plenty than you could dream. But even back in the early days when they were in that wilderness, that land was a wonderful place with relative abundance. Nothing about this is an excuse for waving away Eve.

What is this a metaphor for?
2 For 11:3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

.....did that event never happen?

It is just arrogance though to think that you alone have to faculty to decide what is real and what is not intended as literal in the Bible.
The apostles knew, the prophets knew, than angels know that God really created it all, and you will not be able to show us a single tiny shred of evidence in the bible that anyone doubted this. No one doubted Adam and Eve or the creation as told in Genesis. Claiming simple child like faith is 'arrogance' shows that all you have is unbelief and attitude. Good news I am here to adjust it.

"did that event never happen". You see the question and this post is you demonstrating your lack of knowledge on what metaphors are, over and over again. Go read my post in #358 (and also look up the word).. so you can stop asking "did this happen" as your counter to metaphors.
