  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am currently going to a Southern Baptist Church, the senior pastor teaches relevant teaching, it is full of what I call Dominion Theology people, Christian nationalists, Dominionism, I don't like the concept, because I don't embrace it, from a political standpoint
it is led by President #45. I personally grew tired of hearing from him after the 2018 mid terms. I'm wanting to go to a different evangelical church that does not call anything that is not for Trump.............as a "Baby killer". Does anyone know of a more bible centered church
that is not going to hang it's mantra of politics?

Well, there's the American Baptist Churches USA which are oriented more towards the other political view. Or you could shop around among SBC congregations for one that is not so pointedly political. They exist.

Hi Paul!

I agree 100%. I’m neither far left nor right and have found a congregation that’s fairly apolitical. They are pro-life and help support the local Pregnancy Care center but aren’t hard core militant about it. They don’t preform same sex marriages but don’t go on sermon tirades about homosexuality either.

Greetings! I jokingly refer to myself as a "Recovering Southern Baptist". I get your frustration. It became apparent to me that I was in the wrong denomination because I didn't "vote right". And that was prior to the onset of EX President Trump.

I settled on the Southern Baptist denomination as a young adult. The churches I attended were less focused on politics and groupthink animosity toward the "different people". But the SBC became more and more .... dogmatic.

I just refer to myself as a Follower of Christ now.

At any rate, you and the Almighty will work it out.:preach:

Welcome...I am with you as far as dominionism goes as I also attend a Southern Baptist church. Thankfully the pastor isn't all that political so most of the dominionist stuff comes from members. One thing about church shopping...keep in mind the balance between others need for you and your need for others. If you have good theology, it may be good to be in a church with bad theology as a counterbalance. Though the primary consideration, in my estimation, is that you are in a church where mutual love is practiced regardless of political and theological trappings. If you can find a church that loves each other the rest of the issues will eventually seem less important.
