CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Before they said they weren't "Christian," they were pretty good. Now they suck--and I'm not just saying they suck because they said they didn't want to be called a Christian band; their music sucks.

I liked the first album a lot... But I'm not such a fan of the newst album, I dunno what it is, I just can't seem to get into it.

Sorry. What I meant was that some Christians I know say that a band sucks because they're not "Christian," or because they said they were "Christian" before and now they don't want to be called a Christian band. IMO, Evanescence doesn't suck because they're not a "Christian" band anymore, but because their lyrics and style of music has gone downhill.

I think they and their ilk were prophesied by Soul Asylum.
But seriously, I find them too depressing. For example, the Evenescance "Lithium" makes the Nirvana "Lithium" seem up-beat and angst-free. Also, they are over-polished to the point their music sounds soulless to me, which is especially bad considering they are supposed to be all agnsty or something.

Their songs...nevermind I'm not going to agrue with you but I will say that I personally don't get depressed by their music. Take it whichever way you would like but this thread is about Evanscence and not comparsions with other bands.Evanescence is depressing?
Listen to Esoteric or Shape Of Despair and say that again, I bet you won't mean it.

I like Fallen, but then I heard Origin (their first album), which I liked more. I was disappointed by the Open Door, so they're definitely in a decline for me.

Amy Lee's vocals on cd are beautiful. Every live vid I've ever seen of them though, her vocals are horrendous.

Same. I really liked most of the songs on Fallen. Did some checking up on the band and seems walking the line of Christian band caused a meltdown within.
My coworker loves the second CD, but other than one song I just couldn't connect like I did with Fallen.

I'm a Evanescence fan one year ago since fallen comes out! lol and for me their music rocks, I love it every single song of this band.
Their new album, The Open Door, couldn't be the same as fallen, every band needs change something, and in my opinion they made a nice change... so I'm not saying that TOD is more better than fallen, is just that they are totally different, you can't compare both albums...
