• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

n. The act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable condition, as by lethal injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical treatment.

As I stated before, technically, my family commited an act of euthanasia by removing the breathing machine, the platelet donations, etc.

If they were going to be dead in 24 hours, then. no I wouldn't. Ok so I'm selfish. Can't I just be an eternal optimist and think that there will be a cure around the corner?

That's just sick. You would put your own petty emotions over the agony of someone you...'love'. Of course that isn't love, we all know love is about putting the object of love ahead of ourselves and our wants.

Im curious, what would you say to that person? What reason would give them for keeping them in a constant state of agony? How do you justify playing God with someone's life. That person wants to die, who are you to deny them that?

Have you even though about this issue, or is this some knee-jerk responce you were engrained with when you were a child?

If you think it's sick, then that's your opinion. As to what would i say? I would tell them that I love them, but I would not end their life. If they want to, then they can ask someone else.

I never thought of this as a child. What child does?

My best friend and I had this same arguement once. In the end we decided to agree to disagree. I don't agree with you, you don't agree with me. Let's get over it and move on. :)

Tayln,

Again I would be hardpressed to think that when you are in a situation similar to mine and others on here.... you will change your mind... simply because when you love someone, you can't stand to see them in pain for so long--- especially when there is no hope of the pain being lifted, short of death or heavy heavy sedation.

Sedation, however, is no way to live your life..... My mom was sedated for 3 weeks prior to her death. It was horrible, both to her, and to our family-- we hated to not be able to hold a conversation with her, to not be able to have her respond to us... it was basically as if she were in a coma-- with no hope of being woken up from it.

And, what is extraordinary medical treatment?
