Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Worship God.

You mean to tell me that you would spend every moment of your eternal existence worshiping a god. Even after you made the cut you still think you would need to worship your god?

What type of worshiping would you do?

Are you alone in your eternal worshiping?

Which god would you worship and why?

Ok well heaven is not like your life on earth.

eat go to work/school sleep x 50 years, then you retire and stuck inside your house once you get too old

I dont know if youve ever been on a cruise but its a lot of fun. Heaven is like that, forever..and you never have to think 'oh no the cruise is almost over back to work again'. It's infinite in size and a lot more fun stuff than cruises. But few will make it there.

What sort of "fun stuff"?

Where is this heaven?

What kind of transportation gets you there?

No i have not been there (good one).

Heaven is a reward. If the reward was the same as the struggle on earth......what kind of reward would that be? The Bible describes it as no hunger, no thirst, no death, no pain, roads paved in gold, and beyond anything we could ever ask or think of.

Heaven is in the sky and you cannot see it while you are a human. Transportation that gets you there? You dont have to worry about that if you're an atheist ;)

What would you do for an eternity?
I'd probably become horribly bored regardless of the environment. The nature of the environment would determine how quickly it takes me to get bored.

Just like how people fall into the trap of thinking that if only they were rich, they'd be happy for the rest of their life, people fall into a trap by thinking that if they get to go to some materialistic party heaven, that it will somehow solve all problems and they'll have some meaningful eternal existence.

SOMETHING happens to you after you die.

You don't just go to sleep. Sleep is what you experience when your brain is in a deep state of rest. Something only living creatures can exhibit. To think you disappear or go to sleep after you die is like saying a log or a piece of metal sleeps.

Penumbra what do you think happens when pass away?

As a Christian who believes in the afterlife, I wonder about this a lot...honestly, I think that there's going to be something radically different in our understanding of time once we pass over.
I agree that the thought of eternally singing praise to God does sound kind of boring (and none too pleasant for God either, considering how badly I sing)

It so far cannot be measured or verified, so there only exists speculation.

I think it's most probable that human consciousness permanently extinguishes at death. Our consciousness is constructed from neurons in our complex brain, much like how windows is running on my computer right now. When the brain is destroyed, the construct of consciousness is likely destroyed as well.

If I destroy my computer, is Windows XP still running somewhere? No, it just ceases, because the transistors of the computer can no longer process the calculations that keep it running. If a memory stick is destroyed, all saved data ceases to exist, because all of that data existed as a pattern of transistors or whatever in that device.

Are you a computer?

What is more complicated, a snail or a computer?

The thing that can feed itself, reproduce and make its own decisions, or the world's most advanced computer that requires electricity and another living creature to function.

What happens when a computer and its data is destroyed is different than what happens to something that breathes. Also regarding your computer analogy.......did someone not create the computer? Someone more intelligent and powerful?

I will die, and my body will be taken apart to become part of other organisms. I could be part of the next great genius, or I could become part of a beautiful flower. I might even go into space, who knows.

Atoms last for almost forever, so I will too.

That's my plan for eternity.

So many questions, I'll try to hit them all.

It may not be forever, but you know most of the time I would like to be worshiping God. That is the point of going to heaven after all, to get closer to God. Types of worship: similar to here singing, dancing, praying as a church.

The one true God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Are you a computer?
A biological one, basically.

A computer, in the strictest definition, is merely something that computes, or calculates. My brain takes input from the environment, runs it through calculations and equations, and produces output. Even a simple act like standing takes an enormous amount of balance which requires significant calculation, and this is why robotics are just recently becoming advanced enough to do things like effortlessly walk or catch their balance. The human brain is currently far more complex than even a supercomputer.

What is more complicated, a snail or a computer?
Probably a snail. The amount of data held in the DNA is probably more than the data in a computer. (Maybe someone with a degree in biology will say otherwise.)

The thing that can feed itself, reproduce and make its own decisions, or the world's most advanced computer that requires electricity and another living creature to function.
A computer uses electricity as fuel. Biological creatures use sunlight or other life forms as fuel. It's all just fuel.

As for obtaining it's own fuel, why would I want my computer to do that? I like it right here on my desk.

What happens when a computer and its data is destroyed is different than what happens to something that breathes.
Can you prove it? Can you show a mechanism that maintains consciousness after death of the body?

Which consciousness would remain if it were to do so? A snapshot of myself now?

It's not impossible for people to have their memories erased. A simple hit to the head can delete most memories in the brain if it's hard enough and hits the right spot. A stroke that denies oxygen to part of the brain can permanently change someone's personality, because parts of their brain were destroyed and other parts had to take over. Someone can go into a vegetative state and have no consciousness if part of their brain is destroyed.

A biological machine makes all the difference.

You have DNA, lungs, kidney, heart, brain. Eyes. Your eyes are equipped with automatic aiming, automatic focusing, within less than a second function from complete darkness to bright sunlight, make about 100 000 seperate motions everyday, have automatic aperture adjustment, and makes repairs while you sleep. IMO, there has been intelligent design.

Of course that is my opinion and you are entitled to yours.

No i have not been there (good one).

I was not being factious, it just sounds like you know a lot about this place and I've talked to people who think that they have been there.

Heaven is a reward. If the reward was the same as the struggle on earth......what kind of reward would that be? The Bible describes it as no hunger, no thirst, no death, no pain, roads paved in gold, and beyond anything we could ever ask or think of.

Can you quote that passage? I would like to read it on my own. I’ve read three different versions of the Judea/Christian bible and can’t seem to remember where to find that in scripture. I'm not saying it's not there maybe I just don't remember.

You stated that it’s “anything you can ask or think of”.

What sort of things?

Heaven is in the sky and you cannot see it while you are a human.

What do you mean in the sky?

Transportation that gets you there? You dont have to worry about that if you're an atheist

Believe me, I’m not worried. So what sort of transportation will get you there?
