Claims do not refute evidence.

Oh, don't I know that? LOL

And believe me, I predict some day that science will have evidence against every single passage in the Scriptures.

My 'macho military achivements' [sic] included sending a CEASE FIRE to ships at sea.

Something those hippies who hotfooted it up to Canada when "their number came up" would have appreciated.

How heroic! I can imagine you single handedly kept all of us from working for "these guys" with that action!

But I really understand that you don't think so well of all those draft dodging hippies. How much better and more worthy were all those german conscripts who went to fight for the Fatherland instead of being hunted as criminals.

Sounds like history hits a nerve with you.
But I really understand that you don't think so low of all those draft dogding hippies.
I hardly think of them at all. I don't even know who they are ... and don't want to know.
How much better and more worthy were all those german conscripts who went to fight for the Fatherland instead of being hunted as criminals.
I'm sure their boss thought so too ... before he killed himself in a hole in the ground.

I don't think so.

I think most of that will occur during the Tribulation period, when the Antichrist ... a superscientist ... comes to power.

History? No, it is you who hit a nerve with me more often than not - with your self-righteous manner.

It was you who brought up for no reason at all that Nazi persiflage. It was you who used your own prompt to go and brag how YOU (plural) stopped these guys from ruling over us, when YOU (singular) had nothing to do with it at all.
And it was you who tries to make an impression by your status as a "veteran".

I did something constructive with my time of service. I don't brag with that, nor do I try to use this status to get me favours. I know it wouldn't. Cleaning up spittle and excrements of helpless children is somehow not as impressive as shooting them.

Go and take a hike, AV!

I have a feeling that if God came to Earth as a human: raised the dead, healed the sick, and preached forgiveness; you would still be an atheist.

Just a feeling though ... I could be wrong.

Why would you assume this? Because God has shown himself so clearly to EVERYONE ALL THE TIME?

Oh, wait, no some people fail to feel God the way you do...so you simply HOPE that atheists are atheists because the are mad at God or don't like God or whatever cartoon view you hold of others.

Actually I think many Christians HOPE that atheists would reject God even if he were Obvious. I think this helps some Christians feel more comfortable with the times that they have mini crises of faith.

The plural pronoun is appropriate when the Godhead is conversing among themselves.

I am always fascinated at the exegesis and strange mental twistings people go through to make sense of this sort of thing. The Nicene Creed is fascinating for how the concept of God and Jesus homoouisiousness came to be codifed in the faith.

It is simply FASCINATING!

I often wonder why people will put so much effort into that versus, say, learning quantum mechanics. It can't be any more confusing.

You know the Bible ... right down to the pronouns; but when it comes to angels, which are quite prominent throughout the Bible, you choose to say, "I've heard of angels."

You know what?

Maybe I should explain Ontological Subordination to you.

* It's actually a paradox.

So how does this align with the Athanasian Creed and the Nicene Creed?

Wasn't a lot of this settled back in the 5th-7th centuries AD?

Mainly because of this ...

Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

It won't because they are all too old, for religions to be effective people must not be given time to think or have the wit to question.

Usually I'm asked to back my beliefs up with Scripture so they can do one of two things: accuse me of being brainwashed, or "trample the pearls."

But being accused of "confirmation bias" after I back something I believe up with Scripture is somewhat new to me.

It's probably nothing more than a cheap attempt to dissuade me from using the Sword in future discussions.

Go and take a hike, AV!

Now don't go getting all steamed.

You know I'm right.

Had we not stepped in when we did, you'd be teaching Barry here how to whistle Hogan's Heros.

Wouldn't you?

Or maybe you need to follow the conversation more closely?

And for the record: no, I did not fight in WW2; but my dad did -- he was in Pearl Harbor and brought back a memento in the form of a piece of shrapnel embedded in his head.

And also for the record, note the last three letters of my name?

I'm a Vietnam Era Veteran.

How about you?

My grandfather fought in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, and was even a Colonel. He and his wife are buried in Arlington National Cemetery. But I don't see how that is relevant to anything here.

Oh, don't I know that? LOL

And believe me, I predict some day that science will have evidence against every single passage in the Scriptures.

I've mentioned this before, but there are Bible passages even an atheist would agree with, such as Ecclesiastes 3:19-20. The day scientists start claiming to have disproved that one is the day I start buying into your absurd anti-science conspiracy theories.

I think most of that will occur during the Tribulation period, when the Antichrist ... a superscientist ... comes to power.

Considering how often science is sacrificed upon the alter of politics I find this highly unlikely.

Who is that "we" that you keep talking about? I though that we (the two of us) had already established that you didn't raise a hand against the Nazis.

I guess you mean "The heroic US soldiers". Well, my family didn't see one of "you guys" until all was over. Berlin wasn't captured by the Americans, you might know.

Um ... for the record ... "we" smoked Berlin, then held back and let the Soviets have it in retribution for the Soviets did to them.

(If my memory serves me correctly.)

So unless your family had binoculars or a telescope ...
