  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, it's not just what we do, it's how, why, when , where, and to whom ?

There may be something missing in one or more of these other areas which prevented the experience from being "spiritually rewarding".

One which is particularly common is a lack of forgiveness and willingness to let go of past evils, by casting them down at the foot of Christ's Cross.

Isaiah 58 mentions how fasting with "strife" in our heart makes a fast unacceptable to God. Strife could be a residual apprehension/uneasiness towards others based upon past hurt or injury.

Preparation for a fast should include a prayerful search of one's own heart, seeking to lay aside anything dark and negative, and alternatively gain/hold fast to that which is bright and positive spiritually...With the hope that the fast will help to seal and reinforce such a transformation. In Jesus Name.

Fasting is the way to incrementally decimate and destroy your ego—that is, your will outside of God. You must meditate (i.e. incessantly contemplate) the matters which you wish resolved as you fast. With every hunger pang, a new thought and new perspective enter your mind and conform you closer to God's Will.

Prayer and fasting is helpful in lots of ways.

And when a full on fast is going smoothly one isn't plagued by physical hunger pangs, as the mind is redirected towards focusing upon seeking a much greater, more necessary portion which comes via God and Christ's Spirit.

For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judges me is the Lord. <-----> 1st Corinthians 4:4
