  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

((It's fine. You can join as long as you have a character profile. You might want to read a few posts to decide the best place to join in. This is the Storyline.))

When they met at the agreed place near the woods, Suki had her sword at the ready and eying Liviella and Teresa suspiciously. Liviella stepped forward and nodded a greeting. Suki, however, didn't show the same courtesy. Raising an eyebrow is skepticism, she asked "Well, what's this proof you claim to have?"

Liviella took a deep breath she didn't show this to just anybody and if it went the wrong way, it would have terrible consequences. Her hands went up. Suki drew her sword to prepare for an attack, but Liviella only pulled her hair back. Suki blinked in astonishment. She didn't think any more were in existence. They hadn't come out of their forest for so long, that in some places, including her small village it was only supersticion that they still existed. Yet before her right now, was an elven woman. Doubt began to creep back in her again. This could be another trick. An illusion, or some other means to fool her.

*************
Huul, the spy, was looking at the exchange with mild interest. Three women were assembled. Unfortunately Huul was too far away to tell what Liviella was showing. This was partly due to his night vision. His was like that of a bat, but he hadn't cultivated it to day vision as well. His hearing however was much better than his sight.
*************

"How do I know that what you show me is true?" Suki asked.
"Come. Feel them for yourself." Liviella invited. "As you have requested, all weapons have been abandoned and left with our horses."
Suki hesitantly walked over. She reached up a little and felt the tips of her ears. They were solid enough... Not even magic could do that in her mind. For the first time since her family's death, she felt relieved. A fragile trust began to form in her mind. She nodded. "Ok. I believe you."
"Good. Now, can we talk more privately?" Liviella asked, relieved.

Teresa was relieved that Suki believed her, but a slight doubt came with it, was she going to tell anyone?

Liviella led Suki back to their room. After everyone was inside, she placed a spell on the door and windows, so no unwanted ears could hear, or in the case of the windows, see. "Ok, if it's alright with you, I'd like to hear about your past. Starting with why you hate the empire." Liviella said when she was done with the spells.

"It all started five years ago, I suppose. I lived in a small village, so the thaught that the King would have the least bit interest in us never crossed my mind. Despite that, my parents urged my passion of swordfighting and heard from a trader about a master somewhat near by. So they sent me off with what I needed. I practiced under Master Horo for three years. After that time, I came home intending to tell Mother and Father of the good news of recieving my mastery. However, when I arrived at the hill that gave the first glimps of the village, I saw smoke and fire burning the village. I rushed down in search of survivors. I found Agers, the old smith, lying on the ground with open petrified eyes. I learned that Ringaard had done that along with his soldiers. When he told me of my parents' demise, at first I didn't believe him and rushed to where my house would have been I dug and found them burried under rubble and bloodied all over, dead. I weapt until no more tears came and I passed out of pure mental exaustion. When I came to, I had no idea how long had passed, whether a minute or days, but a craving came over me, giving me the strenght to live on. Revenge on the man who slayed my parents. Ringaard. I vowed that I would kill him. So I became a wanderer, trying to anticipate his next strike in hopes of a confrontation. It was only later on that I learned from a bard that my village was one of the first burned down." Suki told her story in a monotone, which made her story all the more unnerving. After a numb silence she spoke again. "I wish I knew what he was searching for!"

"There, we may be of some assistance..." Liviella said before going in to their own story about Ringaard, but not a personal story. She told Suki about Ringaard and the reason he was storming around the country side. She told her what might happen should they fail, and Ringaard get it. She told what they must do and the lead they had.

Gedion entered the inn and sat down at a table. "Can I get some water please?" Gedion asked the bartender. Gedion was wearing a black cloak with a hood covering his head and part of his face. The bar tender sat the water downon the table. "Do you need anything else?" Asked the bar tender. Gedion shook his head and waved his hand away. The bar tender took the hint and walked away.Gedion sat there waiting....waiting.

Having heard the whole story, Suki was silent for some time. She now realized that this was bigger than just her, and that Ringaard hadn't been directing his vengence on only her village. Then she came up with a decision, though it could very well, be temperary. "I want to come with you. To help return this Seal to safety."

Liviella was surprised, but managed "Are you sure? It won't be easy."

Suki nodded, unwavering determination on her face. Consenting, Liviella agreed.
Talking had lasted until evening. Suki's stomach growled involuntarilly all of a sudden. Liviella downright laughed at the horrified, guilty expression on Suki's face and suggest that they go down and eat.

When they arrived there was a dark, mysterious character at one table, that Suki disliked and mistrusted immediately. She glared at him from their table. Liviella noticed the direction of Suki's glare, and, curious, she looked and saw the man. She could tell immediately he wasn't an empire servant, but still, Liviella wasn't about to go and strike a conversation with him. The bar tender came around and the group ordered.

Gedion watched as the two women(two right?) sat down at the table. One of them gave him a rude glare as she sat down. He noticed they were very cautious and wouldn't take a liking to him easily. Gedion turned his head fully toward the women and stood up. Gedion walked over to there table and stood in front of them. "Greetings." Gedion made an ever slight bow as to keep his eyes on the women. He trusted them as much as they trusted him. "I noticed you staring at me." Gedion said addressing his coment toward the woman who gave him the glare. "You know it is very rude to stare. Where are you headed?" Gedion asked still standing hand on the hilt of his sword.

((No actually there's three, but it's ok. I'm going to have Liviella not know he's an elf at the moment, though.))

"I don't care if it's rude. I never trust suspicious strangers." Suki commented stiffly. She scowled, disliking his nosiness.

Liviella, more polite, said "Well, right now we're at our current destination, Gavael. Until we find what we're looking for, we'll stay here." Liviella, while more friendly, didn't want to get into details quite yet, since she didn't know him.

((By the way, Liviella's ears are hidden again in her hair.))

((;) will do)) "Hm..I see." Gedion looked down at the ground and back up at the women. "I see. Well If you can come to trust me I can help you find the....well what ever you are looking for." Gedion turned around and then turned back. "Think about it. I'll be out side." Gedion exited the Inn and found a bench to sit on. Gedion picked up a rock and started levitating it just to keep himself preoccupied(SP?)

"That's easy." Suki replied instantly. "We refuse him and send him away and make sure he doesn't follow us. He seems the stalker type to me."

Liviella sighed, saddened by Suki's responce. While she and Teresa had convince the girl that they weren't the Empire's servants (quite the opposite), she still held her mistrustful streak. "Let's not reject him quite yet. Let me see into his mind first. If he agrees, then I'll determine his intentions from there. But if he resists, we have reason to worry." Liviella said.

Suki reluctantly agreed, not at all sure if Liviella could actually do this, but then elves were known for their magic.

Liviella nodded and pushed back her chair. "I'll go talk to him." She walked out of the inn and up to the man. "We've made a decision. Since my friend is a suspicious girl, she needs proof. So, I request a mind search. Let me look inside your mind to determine your trustworthiness."

Liviella's eyes widened in surprise. Despite this, she led him back into the inn and into her room. Something like mind searching wasn't something to do in the open. It took ten minutes for her to look through everything. She tried not to cause too much pain while she did this. That wasn't her style. When she retreated, he was right that it did confuse her, but she asked softly in the ancient language (because anyone could learn the ancient language and you cannot lie while using it) "Who are you?"

Gedion was relaxed throughout the entire experience having experienced it many times before. Gedion stood up and walked over to the window and closed the curtains. After that he took of his cloak revealing his pointy ears his sword, which was currently in a sheath on his back, and a dager which was on his hip. "My name is Gedion and I am an elven sword maker hoping at one point to make a sword for a rider. I am skilled at sword fighting and have good aim at throwing the dagger. I have come from Ellsmera and am just looking for a companion to travle with though when I do I don't know what I will do after I travle."
