as to the mystery death, it would have to be someone poor because the funeral parlor was in a run down neighborhood. I want to say this person was black because, well, there were a lot of black people around. And we know this person is male (do we?)

So who is poor, black, and male?
Los Angeles has been known to have some.... black people.

Anyway, I don't think that you need to factor in the race and economics of the people you saw. It's irrelevant.

I'd like to think that it was Locke's body... but I just can't see why he would've left the island. But assuming that Locke left the island, it would make sense since Locke lived in L.A., had no family, and I can see Kate hating him enough not to attend his funeral.

Link to a screen cap of Jack's newspaper clipping

Cool.

It looks as though the clipping says, "The body of Jo... {unreadable}... antham of New York was {unreadable} shortly after 4a.m. in the {unreadable} of Grand Avenue.

Now... the "Jo" suggests "John".
But John's last name is Locke... isn't it? Or will he change his name? And John isn't from New York.

Michael was from New York though...

Thanks to American Idol, my recording had the last 15 minutes shaved off!!!

Thank goodness for timeshifting! I was able to catch the Vancouver episode 3 hours later and record that one and so I saw the last 15 minutes when I woke up this morning.

It's funny... When I first started watching the episode, my sister came in the room and asked me to rewind to the beginning. I jokingly said, "This scene is supposed to be 7 years in the future!! Watch carefully!! She believed me and I laughed.

Little did I know that I wasn't too far from the truth!!!

When I saw Jack in one of the scenes, he was on his cell and I said, "You know... not many people had Motorola RAZR phones back in 2003/2004.... in fact, I'm not sure if anybody had them at all!!"

I wonder if the "hero" references had to do with his involvement in bringing people home from the island as well as rescuing the woman on the bridge?

At first, I thought that someone had crashed into Jack's truck that he left idle in the middle of the road and that it was supposed to be a sign.... like, "It's a good thing you contemplated suicide... otherwise you would have still been in the car and would have exploded!" But the new Head of Surgery said that the car crashed into a median.

I'm sad about Charlie. It didn't make sense for him to lock himself in... although... I wouldn't have concluded that the boat wasn't Penny's just because Penny didn't know who Naomi was. Naomi was part of a commissioned crew of possibly 20 people.

I don't think what we saw in Jack's future/flash is necessarily what the future is going to be, but rather just one instance of what the future may be.

Remember: in that future, Jack's father was still alive. "Call my father down here, and if he's less drunk than me, you can fire me." And, "The prescription was written by Christian Shepherd. I'm Jack Shepherd, he's my father."

That whole space-time continuum thing that Cuseloff have been alluding to has a lot to do with what we saw. In one past, Charlie is playing a Green Day song on a street corner and Desmond runs up to him knowing he was with him on the island (that this Charlie has never been to). Last week, we saw that scene in Charlie's flashback, and there was no Desmond running up to him.

There seem to be two (or more) realities going on, and we don't know which one is the real reality. What we saw last night isn't what will necessarily happen. They may not get off the island at all.

If Jack was having this "future flashes" as he was walking through the jungle, similar to how Desmond had his flashes, he may realize right where we left off that Ben was right and they shouldn't get off the island -- since that's the last thing he flashed on after making contact with the sat phone.

Snooch.

Is it your belief that these "flashbacks" actually take place in the characters' minds while we're watching them on the island?

I always figured that the flashbacks were purely informational for the viewer's enjoyment and that they weren't necessarily being thought about by Sayid/Jack/Hurley etc as they're walking through the jungle or getting caught in nets.

I do think they are remembering these things happening to them as they are going about whatever they are doing on the island.

This is for a couple of reasons:

1) Every time we have seen an apparition on the island that may have been smokey, it has been in relation to the flashback. Jack was having a flashback about his father's death, that was in his thoughts, and smokey (we presume) materialized his father on the island. Kate's horse, Sayid's cat, Eko's brother, they all appeared based on what the character was thinking about, i.e. in the flashback.

2) Somewhere along the way, it might have been in Answers last Thursday, Cuseloff mentioned smokey drawing out memories and producing them in corporeal form.

3) Several times, the characters have said certain things on the island that directly correlated with the flashback they were having. "Don't ever tell me what I can't do", and Charlie's flashbacks directly leading to his writing the incident down on his Top 5 list for Claire.

I've always thought from the start that they were remembering these things as they dealt with issues on the island. I never realized everyone else might not think this too! ^_^

"Don't John" "Put the gun down"

"Walt"

"Now get up John"

"They shot me and I can't .....move my legs"

"You can move your legs. Now get out of the ditch, John."

"Why"

"Because, you have work to do"

Was this really Walt of was this Jacob taking the form of Walt.

I think it was really Walt. I think Walt has these special powers, and wherever he is, he can get through (the wall? the curtain? the looking glass?) and appear on the island at will.

He sure did grow, though. I didn't notice him being wet this time - was he?

I didn't cry when Charlie died. I think I was expecting it from the start so it didn't have the emotional punch for me.

He could have swum out the porthole, couldn't he? I guess he spent so much breath writing Desmond his note, there wasn't time. Or maybe he thought the only way to make sure Claire was rescued was if he didn't change the future and actually died like Desmond's flash said he would.

My television station split the episode in two.

One aired from 7-8, and then the other from 10-11.

Something messed up and the recording was cut short right as Walt was talking to Locke.

Aside from the transcript that Dora provided, did anything else happen with Walt and Locke that I missed?

I don't think so. Locke realized he couldn't move his legs, and went for the gun on one of the Dharma bodies to shoot himself.

Walt shows up (long upward shot, I guess to minimize how much the kid has grown) and tells him to stop. Locke says he can't move his legs, Walt says yes you can, and you have to get up because you have work to do. Then they cut to commercial so viewers could wig.

Main questions I have:

How long has it been since Kate and Jack have been off the island? Who was Kate talking about when she said she had to go or he would wonder where she was.
Whose funeral did Jack go to and why did Kate ask Jack, why would she go?
What was the significance of the woman Jack pulled from the car. Mrs. Arlen I believe is what they called her. Why was he so interested in her and doing her operation? Could she be related to someone who was left behind on the island.
Who is/was Naomi and who are her people.? How did she get a picture of Desmond and how did she know about Penny?

I felt bad for Jack last night. He looked terrible. Sarah with another man and pregnant. Talked about his father as though he sere still alive. (Of coarse we did not know at the time he was actually in the present thinking about past events) All the maps and coordinates in his apartment/house. What circumstances lead to him getting off the island. And did he leave thinking he would be able to find it again and rescue who ever was left behind.

And Charlie, seeing the excitement in his face when he flipped the switch. Thinking he did it and he didn't have to die after all. Then the entire slow motion segment of seeing Mikkhil was outside the port hole with a grenade, Desmond rushing in to speak to Penny, Charlie rushing over to shut and lock the door to save Desmond, then kaboom, realizing he had met his destiny. Writing "Not Penny's Boat" on his hand at the last minute and showing it to Desmond and the look between the two of them as the room filled with water. Then Aaron crying like he knew something was wrong. I for one sat sobbing like a freaking baby.

Jin, Sayid and Bernard. "If you don't hear from me in 1 minute Tom, shoot all three of them." I freaked out when I heard those gun shots. And then Jack beats the living crap outta Ben. WooHoo! Go Jack. Then I'm thinking, no, they can't kill all three of them. Maybe Tom is REALLY working with Juliet and we just don't know it. Tears of joy when I saw them still alive. Can't believe Sawyer killed Tom after he surrendered. "Dude, he already surrendered.' "yea, well I didn't believe him."

Hurley! My hero. When rejected multiple times by his friends, he jumps in and saves the day.

Okay, so where did Walt come from. Was he manifested by Smokey/Jacob/island. Was Locke told by this "vision" about Naomi and what would happen if that transmission was made? Why not shoot the radio out of Jacks hand.

Danielle and Alex, together at last.

I counted a total of 15 deaths last night. 10 Others, 2 woman from the hatch, Mikhil, Naomi and Charlie.

Best Lines:
"If you say Live Together, Die Alone Jack, I'm going to punch you in the face." You go Rose.
"I am a dentist. I am not Rambo."

I'm guessing the body in the casket was Ben or Locke.

Interesting situation with Jack in the hospital. He talks about his father as if he were still alive and he has one of his father's perscription pads (I doubt there would be any of those around after all that time). Does the island bring Christian Shepard back to life? Also, Jack tells the director guy "Do you know how long I have worked at this hospital?" So how long after the rescue is this scene. I'm guessing it is about 10 years.

We have to assume that Jack and Kate survive long enough to get off the island.

I wonder if we have seen the end of the flashbacks and now we are going to get flashforwards.

See, that's why I don't think this is necessarily the future that will be, but the future that could be. I think Jack's father is alive in the future Jack was flashing on last night. That future doesn't go with the past Jack has lived on the island where his father is dead. I think there's a shift somewhere.

Maybe Jack is just delirious and in denial about his father's death.

Maybe this IS the future as it will be, but we're just being thrown a red herring caused by the fact that Jack has clinically lost his mind.

Wouldn't it be a howl if Season 4 was all about doing "Future Flashbacks".... or Flash Forwards.... ;)

That would be awesome. That would settle the whole notion of finding out what happens to everyone after they get off the island.
