Ok...
that `future flashback' bit had me puzzled right up until the next to last one of them. With the first one, I didn't even realize it was Jack until it was almost over (I kept thinking it had to do with his divorce before the crash).
Naomi: dang! she were cute. Pity Locke killed her. However...she lied. Penny didn't hire her ... team. This leads me to think that her team works for Hanso (as per the `Lost Experience'. Maybe Hanso's bunch somehow `lost' track of where the island was at after Bens `purge'? I suspect Desmond was an `incidental' reason for Naomi's expedition - her backers knew that he'd vanished somewhere near the place they were searching ... but what they were really searching for was the source of the signal (caused by the Hatch going `boom'.)
So...the `Others' lost com because Ben ordered *all* outgoing transmissions blocked. Bens stated reason (to protect the island) implies knowledge nobody else has. But...Ben lies.
Danielle and Alex together at last. About time.
Something about Desmonds vision: He told Charlie he saw Charlie flip the switch that turned off the blinking yellow light and then drown. Except, in actuallity the drowing did not follow immediately afterwards. Desmond did not forsee Charlies conversation with Penny, or the message on Charlies palm. Hmmm...
Also...why was it the first person to initiate contact with the `Looking Glass' from the outside world was Penny? How did she manage that?
Hurly saved the day! Quite the drive in that old beater of a van!
Walt? Or a manifestation of the smoke monster? Or maybe Jacob?
How did Locke get mobile again so fast?
Thinking back, Jack made some comments in the last `future back', which combined with some of the above points (Naomi's expedition, Penny appearing so fast on the `Looking Glass' com system, and one or two other bits) which makes me suspect that:
1) there are some major `offstage' manipulations going on. Penny is tied up with these manipulations, so possibly is the Hanso corp.
2) probably most or all of the lostaways that wanted off the island left the island. Because of the manipulations in point 1, though...I suspect some very heavy duty non-disclosure agreements, possibly even blackmail. Note that Kate does not appear to have been a fugitive in the `futurebacks' - that implies some very serious `pull'.
Also...how far in the future were the `futurebacks'? Two or three years, maybe? The cell-phone Jack used looked like a recent model.
The unattended funeral was almost certainly that of one of the lostaways - but whose? Hmmm....process of elimination:
Probably not Locke. Locke would not willingly leave the island and would have immediately tried to return even at extreme risk if forced off. Likewise Rose and Bernard would also likely stay, and possibly Hurly (plus that coffin wasn't big enough for Hurly).
It was somebody Kate knew, but didn't care about. That rules out Sawyer...I think.
If it had been Sun or Jin then the `other member' of the couple, if still alive would have moved heaven and earth to be there.
Desmond would either be on the island or tied up with Penny. If it had been him, she would have been there.
So...Sayid, maybe?
Unless Rose and Bernard were forced to leave the island and one of them died either during that process or shortly after, leaving the other alone.
What direction is the show taking?
