Speculation only!

It was NOT a helicopter that they heard but a plane instead. One could not eject themselves from a helicopter but instead would jump, therefore would fall to the water below and not end up in a tree.

The woop woop woop sound was not helicopter blades failing but a plane spiraling downward.

Penny is on a ship nearby and sent the mystery woman to find Desmond. This is why she has the picture of him. For identification purposes.

Jacob is the son if Isaac (the healer Rose went to see) Isaac made reference in one of the episodes about finding THAT place with such magnetic powers. In the bible Isaac was to sacrifice his only son, Jacob. Maybe the healer Isaac sacrificed his son Jacob to the island that heals people.

I know its a far fetch but you never know.

Actually, it was Abraham who was to sacrifice Isaac.

My take is that the parachutist jumped from a helicopter in serious trouble (maybe they'll find the wreckage in another episode or two).

I do not be believe the parachutist to be a spy for the others - a spy and/or agent of Penny Widmore - quite possibly.

I also suspect, for reasons previousely stated (range of the boat Benry gave Michael and Walt) that there is another publically known and inhabited island within two hundred miles of this one - and likely much less. The helicopter, I suspect originated from that other island.

Has any reference been made in regards to the book that was pulled out of the parachutist's backpack? It was in Spanish. I don't know spanish, but I'm thinking that it was "Catch-22", but the spanish version.

It was Portuguese, and it was Catch-22. The guys in the sub at the end of last season were speaking Portuguese. I cannot spell Portuguese. (Thank God for spell-check).

Falling asleep at my computer, mostly. Also, waiting for the husband to get to his hotel in California so I can say goodnight and go to bed.

Just read this. Very interesting.

"In ''Catch 22,'' the characters Ruth and Naomi have nothing to do with each other. But in The Bible, they are the stars of the Book of Ruth. Well, it just so happens that the book right before Ruth is the Book of Judges. The very last story in the Book of Judges is the story of a war among the tribes of Israel. The bad guy in this story: the Tribe of Benjamin. The war started over a murder that the other tribes believed needed to be avenged; it ended with the near-obliteration (''The Purge,'' perhaps?) of the Benjaminites. Here's where it gets creepy: In the aftermath, the people of Israel felt badly about wiping out Benjamin's people. So they decided to repopulate his tribe by forcing the women from another city to join the tribe of Benjamin. You know: to make babies and stuff."

Y'all might know about this site already, but I just discovered it (I'm usually behind the times, heh):

http://losteastereggs.blogspot.com/

Anyway, found this there:

This is the actual holding of the parachute by Jin, Charlie and Hurley to catch the parachutist. Inset is the "flash" scene that Desmond had. It plainly shows that Charlie was there in both instances (which the flash scene would have been impossible if Des had let Charlie take the arrow).

From Lostpedia:
Catch-22 is a book written by Joseph Heller. It is set during World War II, and offers a satirical viewpoint of the absurdity of conflict. The book mainly centers around Captain John Yossarian. The novel is often considered one of the great literary works of the twentieth century. It is noted for its circular, non-linear structure, with flashbacks within flashbacks and no clear distinction of "real-time events." Certain episodes, particularly one dealing with the death of a young tail-gunner, Snowden, are repeated several times throughout the novel, gaining greater detail with each repetition.

AND you have to take shipping sides. Kate and Sawyer vs. Kate and Jack. ;)

Welcome, Bill'sWife!
Definately Kate ~n~ Sawyer!!! (aka Freckles ~n~ James)

We are glad you are here. And now that you are here you have to pick a Lost character that you are most like. LOL

Hmmm, I will have to think about that one!:)

I wonder if and how Charlie will actually die? (Sorta like "Final Destination"). Poor Charlie.

This is very interesting:

That symbol was on the first aid pack that Jack gave to the camping party. The other one is one the Bloomsbury cover for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

This is very curious indeed. Ever since the cover art came out, everybody has been wondering what the symbol means because nobody can find it mentioned anywhere. And here it shows up on LOST. I wonder where they got the symbol from?
