My go-to pistol is a Springfield XD 45. I'm a 45 guy. But for CCW carry, 9mm hollow points in that skinny single-stack shield is easier. I don't enjoy shooting it like my beefy XD Croatian menace! LOL

My wife carries a Shield 9

So funny how Europeans are terrified of firearms! I can't imagine not being able to shoot. So much FUN!!! And when the poop hits the fan, I'll run the neighborhood! LOL

Sorry, I know this topic is difficult and I don't want you to waste your time studying Roman doctrine.

Thanks for your replies. I am getting closer to understanding. :)
One thing to be aware of RC1970. Orthodoxy is simply not Roman Catholicism without the pope. We are something entirely different.

This can be seen in how the Reformation stopped short at the borders of Orthodox countries.

Christ is risen!

Do EO Christians participate in confession of sins before a priest, as the Romans do, or do they have a different process?

And, is there a requirement, in EO confession, to do "works of satisfaction" or "acts of penance"?

Hi! The EO Christians we must have a Spiritual Father (Priest) and we must go often (1-2 times per month) and confess our sins to him. He will advise us and he will tell us when we must receive Holy Communion. He will ask us if we have repented of our sins and he will read us the forgiveness-prayer. Throughout our lives we must do acts of repentance, virtue and love. Here is my site about the Holy Confession of the EO Christians, if you want to see some articles or videos: Holy Confession of your heart. God bless you! :)

To what end are these "acts of repentance" performed? Are they viewed as meritorious by God? Are they required before God will see you as justified in His sight?

In what way (by what means) are we justified in God's sight?

only through the Cross, the act of penance opens us up to what Christ did on the Cross. He stands at the door and knocks, but He waits for us to let Him in. penance is a way to let Him in

In what way (by what means) are we justified in God's sight?
God justifies...
Justification means "to be made righteous"...
Repentance is our request to God that He make us righteous...
Ontological, not merely imputed, righteousness...
It is our ongoing repentance from evil that establishes our request for God's Righteousness as sincere...
Without a repentant way of life, we are telling God that we are not sincere when we call upon His Holy Name...
Without a repentant way of life, we will not be prepared for our encounter with God, whether in this fallen and earthly life, or in the dread Last Judgement...
Repentance is preparation for an encounter with God...
"Blessed are the PURIFIED in heart, for they shall 'see' [eidomai] God..."
Repentance is the human effort to purify the heart...
Without it, we scorn God's Grace, by which we live...

If our repentance is only a request to God to justify us, how then does God actually justify us?

So, you would say that any penance that the priest would "suggest" are in no way to be considered "works of satisfaction"?
No, absolutely not.

For those of you who don't know exactly what this means, it means satisfying God's wrath through punishment.
