What number of mutations, apply, at any given time (for a particular member, of a particular species)?
In humans, there's 64 new mutations in each new generation.
In humans, there's 64 new mutations in each new generation.
So how many selection pressures can you respond to, with those 64 mutations?
From my reading, probably much more than that.
Estimates vary, but generally the range is from about 110 to 150 mutations per generation, with a lower bound of around 60 and an upper bound at around 200.
Here's a good blog post on some recent estimates: Sandwalk: Human mutation rates - what's the right number?
Really?
I find that fascinating.
Now it just remains to work out, how that number can be swayed, to deal more effectively with the mutation at hand (the one that most stands out to us, as we consider ourselves).
I've never thought of praying, that Jesus remove "mutations", before - thanks so much for giving me a scientifically valid affirmation of the power of the Word of God, to try out.
What do I get, in terms of Evolution, if I pray for it my whole life?
Surely you are not going to say "nothing"?
But evolution isn't something you pray for! It's not a religion, nor a theological movement, nor a deity. It's just a scientific, biological fact of nature.
Why can't you understand this?
Don't you understand that it is evil of you, to refuse to give at least a little meaning, to my words - when my position is that to accept my words, they must be holy?
My words, must be holy.
The seed of your faith in Evolution, must be either good or bad - how you negotiate that, is what I am trying to have learned!
Evolution has nothing to do with what is evil or holy.Don't you understand that it is evil of you, to refuse to give at least a little meaning, to my words - when my position is that to accept my words, they must be holy?

No, it's not evil of me to point out that fact that evolution isn't a religion, a theology or a deity, that it is simply a scientific explanation of a biological fact.
Your words are not holy because you are not someone who is holy. You are not the Pope, nor the Patriarch, nor the Chief Rabbi nor the Grand Mufti. You are simple a person who does not know anything about evolution and refuses to learn.
Evolution has nothing to do with what is evil or holy.
There's no faith needed in evolution, it's just a physical process and scientific theory about that process.
If claiming that its not "simple enough", is refusal to learn, then yes, I am refusing to learn.
Why pretend there is evidential weight to a theory that has no specific context?
Honestly, you make me run a mile, to establish the mile need not be run!
The problem of no specific context, remains - because you continue to refuse to give one or greater?
Except none of that is relevant to evolution. My words in Jesus, are holy.
That makes them memorable.
What is memorable, establishes the intelligence of the adaptation (and I daresay I am becoming a better judge of what is intelligently adapted!)
