There are three books in the series: Ender's Game, The Speaker for the Dead, (and I can't remember the 3rd one. :sorry: )

I read Ender's Game in one day, and the ending was so unexpected, but I loved it. I liked the second book even better, though.

Wow! I didn't know it had proliferated so. It was Xenocide that I was thinking of, although I had recently heard about Children of the Mind.

The Bean chronicles (the "Shadow" stories) definitely dominate over Ender's stories. Read Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead but i couldnt bring myself to finish the series, just got too long and drawn out. Thats what's great about Bean. its choppy, suspensful, engaging, witty, and definitely keeps you guessing and on your toes. Btw, it goes

Ender's Shadow
Shadow of the Hegemon
the new one- Shadow Puppets.

shadows puppets is BY FAR the greatest of the books in either series to date. finished it in under a day. spectacular

One of the reasons I enjoy Orson Scott Card so much is his infusion of religion into sci fi and fantasy. Shadow Puppets is brilliant in that regard. I can't wait for the next one to come out, Shadow Giants, March (I think) 2005, mark your calendars. He is one of the few sci fi writers to have outright muslim characters :) Ah, and "Pastwatch: the redemption of Christopher Columbus." I think I've read that one 5 times.

On the christian end of things, I highly recommend "Enchantment," which takes places as christianity is begin introduced to Russia/Ukraine.

I've heard he also writes plays. Anyone seen any?

Actually, Card is a Mormon. Maybe Muslim and Mormon are similar?

Ah, not really. He writes about all different kinds of religions in his books. The later Enders books have worlds based on different faiths/cultures, like Lusitania, which is Brazillian catholic, and Path, with their Godspoken, among others.

Ok. I just finished Shadow Puppets. I have to say that on the whole I enjoyed this book almost as much as Ender's Game. While I did enjoy Speaker for the Dead and Xenophobe I thought they lacked the action and suspense that Card is so good at and went way too far into the realm of philosophy. Children of the Mind was something of a disappointment to me. Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon were good lead ins but not as good as SP. I look forward to Shadow Giants. Is it just me or does Card seem to be enjoying his writing and having more fun with it than he did when he wrote SFTD and X?
