My two adult kids left my house this morning after a weekend visit. It's hard to explain but I feel void, or empty when they leave. Does anyone else have these feelings? The thing is, I live alone and am never lonely. I love living alone! So why am I so melancholy when they leave? They are both good kids, productive adults who ever were any problem at all to me. They are such a blessing. I should be happy that they come to see me and that I had a chance to see them. I guess there is no answer to this just wanting to know if anyone else has this happen to them.

Thanks

Possibly, you've built your life around them. When they go, it makes the empty space left behind by their absence that much more apparent to you. It's very common. Most parents make their offspring the centre of their lives. They don't have time to commit to personal development.

You have to let Christ's presence rush in to fill the void :)

 it's the "empty nest syndrome", and a distinct and real "loss" as your children are older now and are no longer "needy" as they once were.

Draw near to our Father in heaven, so He can fill that void and. minister to, and comfort you. (((hug)))

It's actually a very good sign that you love them dearly!
Blessings!

Sacrificial love is the highest form of love. Where when they are absent you miss them but are proud at the same time that they as adults have full lives. All you can do is relish the times you have together.

I experienced similarly when I was with both my sisters and haven't been around them much and spent 4 days with them. It is simply given enough time you adjust to them being around from being alone and have to readjust to them not being around. It took me a day or two before I felt back to normal myself. The same thing I think happens to people that are around all the time and then they die those who lose them have to readjust.

You could say relationships are kind of like drugs.... when you get into them they put you in a different emotional state and when they leave you go through withdrawal symptoms.

Fortunately, we thrive and grow on relationships! People waste away on drugs, while God has given us relationships as a means through which we can come to fruition as people.

Aahhh! You gave birth to them and raised them, so there will always be an unbreakable bond between you all.. I don't have any kids but find, I am like that too with my parents and sibling. I just love being around them ..
