  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why can't you be part of the problem AND the solution? Imo, we are part of the problem, and we can choose to ALSO be part of the solution.

You made a blanket statement about people you don't know...saying they've contributed negatively. You'd have to be able give specifics as to what they've done to make a negative impact. One cannot just presume that they've done so.

However, the movement still harms some men.

This is the burning question......*how* does equality for both genders harm men. I understand it can hurt some men....but I can't figure out how it can harm men.

Are you going to get hung up on semantics too?

Yes, some men are hurt by feminism and some are harmed by feminism - no matter which word you want to choose. If you like, you are welcome to stay in denial. It seems natural for most people...

No....not hung up. I was merely clarifying (pointing out the distinction of hurt and harm).

You didn't say how (or even give one example) men are harmed by equality of both genders. What do you have in mind?

No need to make those kinds of remarks, like your last statement.

Yes, it is what I said earlier. I have always maintained that we all contribute to all of this. I guess the difference is that I am willing to own up to how I do....and others are not. Hetta, you have mentioned your education on the open married forum.

Alright, I am not a feminist. I take it some here are. But how can anyone be responsible for this "empowered" ridiculous stuff except those who propagate it or defend it?

And as to everyone being part of society, etc. sure. However, I don't feel personal responsibility for every value my society has formed. Especially when I oppose that value.

If your message here is that the wider feminist movement sometimes sends mixed messages, I don't think many here would disagree with you. However, that doesn't make individual feminists responsible for what some feminists say, especially if they disagree with it.

Well I think it speaks to the immoral side of feminism the side of feminism that promote promiscuity. Another one of my issues with feminism is the affect it has had on the black family with the destruction of personal morals. This type of behavior has become the norm in our society. Some say it is empowerment and sexual freedom but the reality is it is a gross show of lack of self respect and personal diginity. It hurts the women that don't have fathers, that don't have invested mothers, that lack confidence and really only want love.

The funny thing about the media is they promote things like this. They show men's reaction and then the pretend this is what men want. The women that desire that attention and love respond positively to that stimuli. They incorporate that into their personality and they do get the attention but they never get the love. Now she's yelling all over instagram she doesn't need a man but she's got 3 kids from 3 different fathers for trying to fit in and cycle continues.

I think this limits the choice a man has in picking a wife.

It's crazy because my friends and mostly everyone I know all want the same thing a good woman. Yeah they will mess around with anybody but as far who they show RESPECT, TAKE TO MEET MOM AND CARE DEEPLY ITS NEVER WHAT YOU SEE ON TV.

That's my problem with all the comments on male rappers. People don't like it because they don't want to see their image exposed or the agenda made to look crazy. But a lot of rappers are telling the reality of how these "sexual empowered" women are perceived.

Now we have men that don't trust women, think all women are the same, scared of love, commitment issues because this is all the see women using their sexuality subjecting themselves and pretending it is empowerment. Then we have women so emotionally empty they will go as far as sleep with women to gain the attention and love of a man. But it is rare women like that find love.
