  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Emotions or not?

I know we have emotions for a reason, but is it normal to cry for God? I don't do this all the time, but when i am moved or feel like I am wanting God really bad I cry for him, and sometimes want to go home. I guess it's just an intense feeling toward him, and of love. And no, Im not depressed. lol
Anyone do this?

Crying is the manifestation of a feeling, a way in which the body expresses how one feels.

I assume you mean at church? I believe that the way in which some churches conduct their services etc do so in a way which can get a person all emotional and almost manipulate your feelings in a way. I don't think that that is a good thing for that church to be doing.

Crying to God etc however in general is perfectly fine. God is our heavenly Father and just like how we cry to our earthly father is ok, it is also ok to cry to our heavenly Father.

I however would urge you to exercise caution if you are attending the likes of a pentecostal church or something of that kind and you end up getting carried away emotionally due to the music etc - I think your flesh reacts to that.

Hope this helps sister. :)

No I am not attending churches of that kind. I don't attend like I used to due to my fibromyalgia. I just wondered if anyone else genuinely cryed for him, I don't think there is anything wrong with it even if music touches us and we think about him in a thankful, loving way. I still cry sometimes when I pray to him, I just feel open and honest, and aware that he is the most high, esp loving us with such intimacy. Oh and by the way, yes, if the choir is singing and it's beautful, I am moved, how can you not be? For us to praise him with our voices and how beautiful it sounds.

I cry sometimes when something at church during the worship or sermon touches me. And often when in private prayer or when reading something in the bible which moves, touches, and gives me insight into something I am going through. And sometimes I am brought to tears when I am praying intercessory prayers for others. I think it is a blessing and a gift. I think it is a way in which my heart is touched and drawn closer to Him. And I have received this sometimes on my early morning walks. You are right in that it doesn't mean you are depressed. It is a good thing..tears of mourning or sadness sometimes but also deeply stirring, meaningful, and joyful!

I do! It gets so overwhelming you know. I mean He is such a HUGE GOD! Our little minds and hearts can only comprehend and feel so much..... as we grow deeper in our relationship with Him and the more we understand His WORDS... we become more sensitive to His Holy Spirit. ;) the less we live with our flesh and the more we choose to live by His HS, the higher our spiritual radar becomes..

We recognize MORE His presence, His love, the works of His hands and all those things that are FROM Him and OF Him... we also recognize those that are not...:waaah:

Suddenly, our once blinded eyes can see things we never used to..:burglar: you know what they say that "to see is to believe"? Well, faith says "Believe and then you'll see.." God opened our eyes, He didn't Himself or anything yet He made it happen. :bigeye:

Anyway, it's always GREAT to know people who are also on fire and passionately in love with the Lord! It's a beautiful experience.... actually, the best reward anyone can have in this lifetime is to love Him (by His grace) and to LET HIM love us!! :love2:

Made me wonder what I did to deserve all these, to be pursued by our maker, the King of all Kings!! But then I realized, I didn't do anything. HE LOVES US SO UNCONDITIONALLY, IMMEASURABLY MUCH that even when we don't deserve it.... HE STILL DOES, HE ALWAYS HAVE....AND HE ALWAYS WILL. :flatt:

WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE SERVE, won't you agree :happyblush: :)

I too have cried just whilst praying to God alone, I have felt the Almighty's immense Love and have been overcome with Joy. I think if we truly seek God we can find Him. Other's may not cry but we are all different, doesn't mean not crying is less of a feeling or that we are weird for crying.
Also look at the relationship David had with God in th OT. God wants that intense personal relationship with all of His Children I believe.

One time I broke out crying in a Bible study -- we were reading about the crucifixion and suddenly it struck me as being very overwhelming. I'd read it hundreds of times before, but somehow the insights hit a certain way that day. Very embarrassing bc everyone wanted an explanation, and then started jumping to conclusions as though I was new to the information or had rebelled in the past and was suddenly repenting. Lol, I don't know what it was -- I just expressed emotion.

(And for all you men out there who hear that women manipulate with tears, notice that the tears can manipulate the woman.)

It's normal. The Holy Spirit works deep within us with His cleansing, healing touch. I recall reading Brusko, an amazing story of a guy who walked into the South American jungle and converted a brutal isolated aboriginal tribe. Later on, the tribe's chief was crying over what Jesus has done for us, and hopelessly tried to save face by saying he had come down with the sniffles.
