I apologise for the paucity of information. My wife was informed by a friend, close to the monastery, and this was one of the first reports I was able to find on the web.

He was once described to me this way “The elder at this monastery is one of the holiest elders in the world today... A small and shrunken little Greek guy with joyful eyes and a bright glow about him... He laughs a lot and likes to slap you on the head with his small hands...”

I would have liked the opportunity to meet him.

Ah I have not been online and this is the first I've heard it.

May his memory be eternal.

I'm saddened - I didn't have much likelihood of being able, but I had hoped to possibly meet him. And I'm saddened by what the Church has lost, though surely he is speaking to Jesus on our behalf.

Funny, this reminds me just a little of when I finally met our bishop. He joked with me and bopped me on the head, which was both surprising and endearing. (I think maybe you had to be there lol)

Just wondering who will be in control of the monastery ? Will it be Fr. Paisos or Fr. Philaret?

AFAIK, Fr. Paisios has always been the abbot.

Didnt know him in personally or theologically, but it seems he had made quite an impact on many people. May he rest in peace with Christ in paradise.
