President Biden’s education secretary is telling the media that the state knows what’s best for children

President Biden’s education secretary is telling the media that the state knows what’s best for children — and parents don’t. In an Associated Press interview on Friday, Miguel Cardona spoke to reporters about the present state of education in America, noting the controversy surrounding the subject and saying, “I’ve never seen it where it is now. There was civility, we could disagree, we could have healthy conversations around what’s best for kids.” He compared the days when educators and parents cooperated to do what’s “best for kids,” contrasting that against the situation today, when parents protest at school board meetings.

He claimed, “I respect differences of opinion.” But Cardona followed that statement by saying, “I don’t have too much respect for people that are misbehaving in public and then acting as if they know what’s right for kids.” He added, “There’s a team that’s fighting for kids and there’s a team that’s fighting against kids.”

Meg Kilgannon, senior fellow for Education Studies at Family Research Council told The Washington Stand, “The arrogance of these comments captures almost perfectly the arrogance that parents face when they try to have any kind of impact on the public education system. Before Cardona even answers the question, he is sure to remind everyone that he’s been in education for 25 years and also has a lot of schooling but he’s too humble to remind us of exactly how much. The implication is that he’s the adult in the room and we should trust him.”

I don't have much respect for anyone who acts out and then tells me that I should listen to their point of view. That includes people who scream and yell, use cuss words, bully their way around, or are violent physically or verbally, etc. People who make accusations against a specific person that they can't back up with facts are not to be trusted.

What the far left politicians call "misbehaving in public" is really good, honest, and ethical parents who are using their God given free speech rights to disagree with woke far left policies.

Is Cardona far left? I'd like to know what he means by misbehaving in public.

I would imagine he probably has a certain kind of parent in mind when he says things like this. If you've worked in education (as I have in the past, and I suppose technically do now, though in a different capacity that doesn't put me in front of parents anymore, thank the good Lord), you know the type: they're mad about something, and whether or not it is a reasonable thing to be mad about, and also whether or not you can actually do anything about it, they're going to make sure you hear all of what they have to say, no matter how irritating and/or combative they become in the process. And of course it's all justified because you're talking about your (and other peoples') kids, dang it! So it's justified to treat teachers like garbage, and to disrupt school meetings, and all of this, because you're mad (er, excuse me, 'concerned') about kids.

And people wonder why there's a teacher shortage and why teachers are constantly quitting...it's a real mystery, I'll tell you what!

It is very obvious he does not like having his/the deceitful agenda exposed and parents speaking out about it, from the article:

on a national scale, including inappropriate contentographic content and LGBT propaganda in school libraries, transgender bathroom and locker room policies,

What information our kids are receiving in school from teachers and administrators is a subject that I would like to see discussed in a Congressional hearing, yes on a national level with the Secretary of Education, award-winning teachers from public schools, private secular schools, and private Christian schools, school administrators, and parents/and kids from those schools. I'd like everyone to be seated on the same elevation, not a panel sitting in a domineering elevated position above parents/and kids.
Everyone takes turn talking for a limited period of time and are NOT to be interrupted.

Anyone who can't behave in a civil manner and obey the rules gets one warning and after that, they are expelled from the hearing on that day. They may be allowed to return on a following day and be heard. If they repeat their behavior they are gone for good.

I've seen videos of some of these school board meetings that are ridiculous with both sides or one side or the other acting and speaking outrageously.

I just want whatever conversation we're having to stop being dominated by those willing to yell the loudest and make the most insane allegations. There is absolutely no evidence that such stunts help children in any way, no matter how good they may make people look in the eyes of their respective political tribe.

Throw them all out. Before they are taken seriously, and the bobbleheads believe what they are saying and come after your kids..

Back in the 80s, we had a 2nd-grade public school teacher tell us that parents are unqualified to raise their own children.
The next year, we had our kids out of that place and were home-schooling them.

Right.

We send teachers and educators to school to get masters degrees, because we value actual expertise that a parent doesn't usually have.

I believe Cardona believes the government knows what is best for kids. To me, that's a woke far left viewpoint.

He believes educators should be allowed to do their jobs, the ones they went to school for years to aquire specialist skills for. A parent with a highschool education is not qualified to evaluate some aspects of education, because they are not educators. Their opinions should be heard, but they are just that, opinions. Everybody is entitled to a voice, but not a megaphone.

Should "educators" be allowed to teach and train students values and morality that the parents do NOT want their children to be indoctrinated with?

This is similar to what I’ve been looking for. My child’s school is forcing me to identify her as a boy. I wonder if I homeschool her, does the government require I teach “identity” to my child? Will they take her away from me? I’m so upset that strangers are forcing me to accept this. Please help.
