That's pure paranoia on your part! But because you think that, tell us what the reason would be for leaving out three people. I'm curious.
Not paranoia, curiosity. And I don't know why, hence why I ask. Why did you intentionally leave them out?

And there was no office of seventies in the Bible. They have a bogus organization.

Luke 10 -

1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

As a die hard Mets fan I don't understand there to be a rivalry between the Jets and the Mets - it's not even the same sport. Many Mets fans are actually also Jets fans. I'm thinking perhaps you meant Yankees and Mets?

Yeah - it's been a long week.

Seventy is a number, not an office.

I don't know if I understand the purpose of this thread... Phoebe Ann posted the educational backgrounds of the 12 Apostles and from what I see they look pretty good overall. A couple of them have little to no educational background but in religions or churches a formal education isn't always necessary. Most of them went to BYU which is a very good school. Many of them went to other good state and private schools as well, even if it was for just one of their degrees.

There seems to be a theme in this thread as to the role of BYU in their backgrounds but I don't understand how that would be unusual. They're Mormons so they would probably want to go to the top Mormon school. There aren't many Mormon schools to begin with and BYU has high visibility to the secular academic world. It is considered a good school. No doubt they push Mormonism - it is a Mormon school after all... But there are non-Mormons who attend and a BYU degree carries some weight, similar to some of the good state schools.

Anyway, I still think I'm missing the point of this thread... Apologies for that.

In another thread, Phoebe made two false accusations:

1. All of the senior church leadership went to BYU

2. BYU exists solely to indoctrinate everyone

I dared Phoebe to prove this, and this thread is the result. She won't come out and admit it in so many words, but #1 is provably false now because not everyone of the 12 went to BYU. #2 we're trying to get everyone to budge on, as the religious studies requirements are BYU are no different from the requirements at other private religious colleges.

Paranoia --- you assumed there was a motive behind something I didn't do.

Fifty percent of the quorum of twelve apostles either went to BYU or received an honorary degree. Please provide the links to your accusations.

http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandr...gham-young-university-230038/overall-rankings

A number of the specific rankings are only available to premium subscribers, but of those scores that are visible:

1. BYU's undergraduate program in accounting is #3 in the nation, while its graduate program in accounting is #7.

2. It's listed as the #16 "best value" school in the nation.

3. #38 for law schools

4. #19 for graduate degrees in city management & urban policy

http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/byu-3670

BYU is overall #66 in the nation. Courses in 50+ languages are offered on campus.

https://best-colleges.time.com/money/full-ranking#/list

BYU is ranked #15 by Money Magazine, with the overall program getting an A- score.

I'm also seeing various lists depicting various BYU athletics teams as being in the top 25.

So yeah - BYU has a fair bit to boast about.

Provide evidence that "seventy" was a priesthood office. This verse does not demonstrate that. Instead, it is talking about literally seventy (the number) other men.

1. You claimed that all of the church leadership went to BYU and that they received indoctrination accordingly. You yourself have now shown that your statement is false. Can we expect a retraction now?...
Jane Doe liked your post.

But I never said, "all of the church leadership went to BYU and that they received indoctrination accordingly." Mormons are so eager to discredit their critics that they pass out accolades to Mormons who make false statements about their critics!!!

I guess I'm sort of confused by the purpose of this thread. Does the fact that we don't have a family dynasty puzzle you? After all even Bill Gram has a family dynasty. Are you trying to find a reason why our leadership leave perfectly good and lucrative careers to serve in the Church full time?
