  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know. There comes a time where you have to grow up and eat grown up food.

Don't you dare touch my Totinos Pizza Rolls. Don't judge me!

I've eaten two entire packages of pumpkin spice Oreos in the last week. The first was in two sittings; the second package was in one.

I can no longer judge anyone about anything.

Most people don't know their rights.

It was in plain site when the officer was making the traffic stop. Furthermore you don't have the same rights when it comes to a vehicular search compared to a search of your apartment or house.

How are my rights different from a search of my house to a search of my car?

It's possible she will end up being rehired on the basis the cops confused pasta sauce with meth...

Even if she doesn't, there are grounds for a lawsuit concerning this, complete with known financial damages. There are plenty of lawyers that would have a field day with this, including some lawyers that would donate their time and represent her for free.
GA, being an At-Will state, means she has no legal recourse to sue for wrongful termination.

You misunderstand, I never suggested she sue her former employer, I suggested she sue the city/county/state.

I believe he was saying that she should pursue legal recourse for wrongful imprisonment.

That and financial/emotional damages, which the fact she lost her job over all of this, easily demonstrates the financial damages part.

I agree. I'm just not sure she has legal recourse here. I know that most states have laws preventing people from suing police for "reasonably" investigating a crime. While I find this to be unreasonable there is no guarantee the court would see it the same way.

Except they also sentenced her before she was even found guilty...

They did? I did not see that. I did see where she was jailed but that is different then being sentenced. In any case I hope that she will be able to get recompense for this.

Really I don't see why her former employer won't end up rehiring her (assuming they didn't already find a replacement in which case they can't lay off the new person for no reason).

I have no idea. I guess it depends on the job and if she made them adequately aware of the situation. If she just disappeared with no explanation most places would find that an issue.

As was mentioned GA is an at will state so they actually can lay off a person for no reason but it would be kind of a jerk move.

Well thm laying her off actually does make some sense, but I think this is a case that the police needs to inform her former employer that they were the ones that screwed up, not their former employee.

In a perfect world. Most days they wont do that anymore to avoid admittance of culpability. Part of my issue with our litigious society.

She was sentenced to "drug counseling".
While she was waiting for the results to come back, Huff was also ordered as part of her court arraignment to seek drug counseling.

She lost her job while she was in jail. It sucks to be poor.
Didn't see where it said she was poor, but I agree - the whole situation sucks, regardless.

Arrested, re-arrested, loss of job... all because of a little spaghetti sauce on a spoon.

I'm thinking she'll make most of it back though on the lawsuit and appearances on local talk-shows. :)
