The date can be pushed back by embracing changes like 15-minute cities, low-carbon energy and reforestation.

Humanity has burned through Earth’s annual budget for resources in under eight months.
Known as Earth Overshoot Day, 2 August marks the date on which we’ve used up all the resources that the planet can regenerate in one year.
“Persistent overshoot leads to ever more prominent symptoms including unusual heatwaves, forest fires, droughts, and floods with the risk of compromising food production,” says Steven Tebbe, CEO of the Global Footprint Network - the organisation which produces the estimate.

'Solar energy is the most abundant energy resource on earth -- 173,000 terawatts of solar energy strikes the Earth continuously. That's more than 10,000 times the world's total energy use.'

I'm getting solar panels fitted soon. About 6 kW. Easily fits on my roof. It'll take about 4 - 5 years of savings to pay it off. Then I have free electricity all day. If I bought a battery then the pay off time stretches to around 8 years. But then I get free electricity 24/7. Gonna cost me about US$5k. If I was in the US then I'd have to add about $2.5k just for local permits. From the same link:

'On average, local permitting and inspection processes add more than $2,500 to the total cost of a solar energy system and can take up to six months to complete.

That's crazy.
