How do I tell the moderators of this forum to please take a witch's hat off of my icon, and remove the distracting Halloweens bats from the screen? It seems that one simply cannot have a Christian conversation around Halloween without being inundated by devil costumes and paraphernalia! You'd think on a Christian forum things would be different. But no.............. :(

Click on your username and/or avatar on the top right side of this page or the CF homepage > Click on the icon with the little gear (to the right of the envelope icon >Click on Preferences > Under Current Options, check the box that says "Disable Holiday Styling" > Click "Save" at the bottom > Wait for a second or two and then, voilà, no more bats :)

I believe this is the place to report your concerns:

It's down the forums at the "Support Center".

The bats are kinda cute though (I think we should be thankful they weren't photo-realistic spiders).

The witches' hat totally hid my face unfortunately and made it look like a UFO / AAP.:sigh:

It would be better, IMHO, if this forum setting was set "disable holiday styling" as a default.
The good news is that once the box is checked, all of the year's various "holiday stylings" will continue to be disabled (unless you uncheck the box again). Some of them are cute or funny, but the Halloween "styling" is annoying (the bats), and it just gets worse from there :(

Whatever the owner used to update the site obviously wasn't exclusively designed for CF.
This is true. Also, from what I understand, CF cannot pick and choose which holidays it wants the "styling" for and which ones it doesn't, IOW, it's a package deal, but each member can turn it on/off at will for themselves :)

I had to uncheck disable holiday styling to see what's being talked about. Those bats quickly drove me batty. I can't imagine why any developer would think any objects zooming around on a text screen wouldn't be hated by virtually everyone.

During some other festival (maybe The Independence Day?) there were fireworks all over the forum, text was unreadable and web browser was unable to process it, so it got frozen every time I clicked on something.

These things should be really set off by default, at least for technical reasons.

I think I was the first one to start a complaint thread about it.

Yeah, I complained about the snowflakes too. I couldn't see past them to read/write.

There are some other ones that I actually like though (I just don't remember which holidays).

How can you be so glib about little cartoon bats?!

You should ask someone who is a fan of Batman comic books or video games.

Edit: I really don't see what the big deal is. But I do have a problem with promoting the perception that we Christians are a bunch of no-fun fuddy duds with respect to major and minor holidays.

Now if people start sacrificing children to the Bat-gods, then I will have a problem.

I think the biggest issue is that it's annoying while trying to read. In the video game I play one of my houses is set up to look like a haunted house, and I have flocks of bats flying around in it.

I have these Sengled light bulbs in my house that I can change into any color. Last Sunday, I turned them orange when the Bengals beat the 49ers. Is it pagan to celebrate when the Bengals win against a heavily favored opponent?

By the way, I'm originally from northern California, but now I live in southwestern Ohio.

Makes sense. I've seen other "Forums" sites that follow much of the same design features we see here.

Here in the Seattle area I think anything other than Seahawks blue and green lighting is considered sacrilege.
