Name: Dru "Forester"
Race: Half Elf
Gender: Female
Age: 28

Born to an Elf father and a human mother, Dru was fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have mainly human features, although her skin color often draws comments about her health, which she explains as a rare medical condition.

Her parents insisted that she live among the elves, knowing the humans would not understand, but life was equally difficult among them since she was only accepted because of her father. She was often shunned and teased for being a "halfling."

So, at 27, the age of freedom (and the age when most in her community marry or are planning to marry), she left. She simply disappeared without a goodbye. The pain and loneliness enforced by her parents were sufficient for her to want an unannounced and sudden (and permanent) break, knowing that it would cause them the kind of pain she had felt all her life.

Her first contact with humans wasn't pleasant. A man, apparently a merchant, took a liking to Dru, and made a crude comment about her body. Before he knew what had happened, he was dead. His neck broken. Dru started to wonder whether 17 years of the human's martial arts was a good idea, but she did remember that was all that kept her sane after puberty.

Still, the loss of control was disturbing, and she began to understand the Sen-Se's cautionary tales of restraint.

She left the merchant with his goods by the road (except for a few supplies that she needed.)

A bit later, two women were outside a rural home. They said hello, and Dru smiled and nodded back.

"Are you new around here? We've never seen you before." They asked

Dru hesitated. "Umm.. Yes, I am new."

The women were now excited. "What is your name?"

"Dru."

"And who is your Father? Do you have a last name?"

The idea of a "last name" was new to Dru, and her mind began to spin. Certainly she wanted nothing to do with her father, and yet these women expected her to have another name.

"Forester" she blurted out, remembering the name of a mythical character her father told stories about. Concerned that she had broken some rule, she continued on, hearing the pleasantries of the women behind her.

The next day, she crested a hill to see a city. It was a magnificent sight. Certainly nothing the elves would build, as they prefer to live with nature. So this was the life she chose. Over the days and months, she began to learn about the culture, economics and habits of humans.
