Thanks Talitha, but my posting wasn't negative but positive that we all need to test the dream and particularly if we are having a lot of dreams, which many seem to have. All I was saying was to be aware, beware, and don't be unaware. Can't believe the offence that was expressed by those people who didn't read exactly what I said. If HIS sheep want to willy nilly accept dreams that have nothing to do with our Heavenly Father and try to make it manifest into something beautiful for them, then so be it. I explained a simple dream I had some years back, and nobody even pondered on it or I suppose didn't even read it. Yes, I guess all people seeing our Lord running around in long hair, and if he was trying to avoid anyone, in those days he would well and truly stand out in the crowd like ET in a pile of fluffy dolls. As far as I am aware that in our Lord's days the Jews wore short hair and so did all the other cultures, such as Romans and Greeks. And most recorded information stated that he was taller than the other Jews and had blonde/fair hair and blue-gray eyes.
Hello brother,
It is true that all dreams, visions, and even things we 'think' we hear from God must be tested.

I personally hear from the Lord quite a bit through dreams. The number of dreams we have is not an indicator of deception. What I've learned is that once we actually begin to pay attention to what He's speaking to us through our dreams, He gives us more. It pleases Him when we are interested in what He has to say to us. He imparts things to us through dreams & visions, He warns us through them, and He instructs us through them. Often times He shows us things which will come to pass in the future. All of these details about dreams are scriptural.

Job 33:14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; 16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, 17 That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. 18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword

The reason man perceiveth not what God is speaking in their dreams is due to the fact that many believers are not familiar with biblical symbolism or the ways in which God speaks

I didn't see anyone being offended in this thread, they simply have different views from yours.

I don't think people are offended, Matjohluk - certainly not I. Disagreement is not the same thing as offence. As for your dream - I don't really have a comment on it. It seems pretty self-explanatory. :) And as for what Jesus looked like - it was 2000 years ago, no one did a portrait, at least not one that lasted this long, and no one knows what he looked like - nor is it important, IMHO.

I am not writing this to condemn anyone, but many need to be aware of the traps that snare the Body of Christ and deceive the innocent.

If we are aware that Satan deceived Eliphaz into thinking he (Satan) was God, applying his (Satan’s) words to Job that God had nothing to do with. And as we know that God harshly rebuked Eliphaz for being deceived by Satan and perpetrating his lie to Job.

On that note, nobody likes to admit that they have been conned.

God’s Word warns us all the time about Satan and his forces and that they want to con us into believing that God had given us a very precious possession or gift, and their greatest deceptions are dreams and visions.

We read in the newspaper of the con artists, liars and thieves who seek to defraud us, but we ignore the same report in God’s Word that Satan and his forces of con artists, liars, and thieves are trying to do the same to our Lord’s servants. Sadly, many are not aware of his tactics, and are not prepared to avoid his schemes, or avoid falling as a victim their deceptions

We are all aware of those worldly traps, such as: crooked sales people who defraud elderly people and rob them of their life's savings; corrupt businessmen who use false accounting to cheat investors and avoid taxes; and thieves breaking into our home and robbing us our possessions. Therefore, Satan and his forces are exactly the same.

But, we ignore the warnings that there is a thief and a liar who wants to steal, destroy, and kill the most valuable possession of all, our eternal life and our future as His servant. Satan and his forces are thieves and they “roam around like a roaring lion seeking whom they can devour” (1 Pet. 5:8). They work through deceptive practices, from pride to occultism of “white magic”, “seeking whom” they can turn (devour), God’s servants, away from the truth and God's Word, Way and Will.

We think because we are saved and Spirit-filled and faithful and religious that we cannot be deceived (see Matthew 24:24). Our Lord Jesus Christ revealed to us that the most pervasive forms of deception are found in religious practices. Paul warned the Corinthians against false ministers: "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works" (2 Cor.11:13–15); and the angel of light can also form false dreams and visions.

Yes, Satan has many strategies, schemes, and devices to deceive us, and dreams and visions are one such deception, particularly those who have been involved with séances, tarot cards, channeling, astrology and Ouija boards in their past lives.

Paul said: "lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices" (2 Cor. 2:11).

I always advise those people who have continually have dreams and/or visions to be very wary as many see our Lord Jesus Christ, appearing to them with long hair and dark eyes as commonly portrayed in paintings. Now whether our Lord Jesus Christ had long hair is debatable, because Paul wrote: "Doth not even nature itself teach you that if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" (1 Cor. 11:14, KJV).

Now it’s a known fact that our Lord Jesus Christ escaped out of crowds on several occasions, because He looked like the average Jew of His day, therefore, His hair must have been short. Many have been taught that our Lord Jesus Christ had long hair because he was a “Nazarite.” History shows that short hair on men has been around for a long time, and at the time of our Lord Jesus Christ it was the accepted and general custom. Now, if anyone disbelieves that they go and check out all the famous busts and statues of the time, they are all portrayed with short hair, the same as we are today.

But, there are ancient documents that were written a long time after our Lord Jesus Christ claiming that he had long hair, which hadn’t been cut since childhood. I challenge that because he was a Rabbi and a Jew, and he wasn’t a Nazarite.

SO, I say to all, do not be deceived by dreams, visions, or appealing messages, because John wrote: "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1), which means that many dreams, visions, and messages can be of a deceiving spirit, such as the angel of light.

Satan and his forces will use dreams, visions and "miracles" to deceive God’s elect: “And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs (dreams, visions, and messages) which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived" (Read Revelation 13:11–14).

So, I warn those who have dreams and visions and messages to test the spirits, and if they continue to have these confusing dream, then we need to take it to our Lord Jesus Christ in prayer and ask Him to take them away from them if they are not of Him. Also, we need to realise that our Almighty God would be definite and precise, not confusing, and not symbolic.

Be aware, beware, and don’t be unaware.

i know joseph smith "says" he had such a visitation.

for me personally, I hear a thing ..and the holy Spirit says to me (in different ways) that is not "truth" .. he gives me this discernment .many years ago i asked for the gift of discernment because we are told to desire earnestly (covet) All the gifts .. so i asked and i know he gave what i asked for .

praise God for he is god and faithful to his word and his word became flesh :):clap:

It seems pretty self-explanatory. :) And as for what Jesus looked like - it was 2000 years ago, no one did a portrait, at least not one that lasted this long, and no one knows what he looked like - nor is it important, IMHO.

My point of my comment, there is no argument, from my old age and having heard these same dreams time after time that I have heard over the past 20 years of my fifty years odd years walking “The Way” of my life (I am over 70) of dreams and interpretations. Many of the dreams don’t marry up with Scriptures of our Lord Jesus Christ as having LONG hair, with a Nazarene part in the hair, and BROWN eyes, which isn’t a true description.

I made a comment earlier to a poster who had a confusing dream and wanted an interpretation of a dream. I made a simple reply to that person, but like most Christians they only want to hear what they want to hear, it was ignored.

The poster made reference to our Lord Jesus Christ as being a dark figure, long hair and gold eyes. I explained to the person what I discerned that our Lord’s hair length and colour of eyes didn’t marry up with known history. Our Lord was described as a robust man, of great stature, taller than the normal Jew, had straw-coloured short hair, and his eyes were normally described as blue-gray. And if the figure was dark, long hair, golden eyes, then I would be concerned of being deceived. My simple comment was ignored by the person concerned.

I posted this article expressing my concerns to the Body of Christ of the needs to be very wary of false dreams, and it was on my heart to make others to be aware and not be unaware of the “angel of light”!

At the time of our Lord Jesus Christ and early church, Jews and Gentile menfolk had short hair, which was the accepted and general custom, while the women had long hair. The hair style of that period is well illustrated in history books and the pictures of busts and statues of famous Greeks and Romans of that time of our Lord Jesus Christ; they were portrayed with short hair similar to what we find today, but not short-back-and-sides.

As we view carvings and statues of the Roman legionnaires showed them as having closely cropped hair. It would have been quite an oddity for a Roman man to wear his hair long. The reality of it all is that, Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to Trajan had short hair. And it was the emperor who set the pattern in style and mode of dress for the entire empire, which included Israel at the time of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We need to also remember that a large segment of the Jewish population spoke the Greek language and had a Hellenistic view in the time of our Lord Jesus Christ as they were mentioned in John 12:20 and Acts 6:1. The style of hair for men of this culture was to wear it short, which has been shown in many images of marble statuettes. One author, who is a learned historian and archaeologist, said when describing one particular: “It’s clear that I could not tell if the man was a Jew or a Gentile”. Why did he say that, because throughout the time, hair styles were the same, such as short hair on men?

We know that Paul actually saw our Lord Jesus Christ (see 1 Corinthians 9:1), and he knew exactly what our Lord Jesus Christ looked like. In 1 Corinthians 11:14, Paul wrote: “Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonour to him?" (1 Cor. 11:14). Now on that note, why would Paul say that about our Lord Jesus Christ if He had long hair? Yes, John the Baptist, our Lord’s cousin may have had long hair, because he was a Nazarite, but our Lord wasn’t a Nazarite, he was a Nazarene.

The Talmud also reveals that the hairstyle was “Julian,” or what would be called “a Caesar cut”, short back a sides (Sanhedrin 22b).

Blessings.

Hebrews 1:1-2

"In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe."

Acts 2:17

Totally, when its a God dream you know and you generally know what He's communicating to you as well. Imho.

This is what I have found to be true… when its of God, you know and you'll remember it. Most dreams go away we can not remember them, if when you awake you still remember it - pray on it.

I don't fear prophetic dreams or prophecy bc I know they need confirmation from independent sources…. I wouldn't change my life bc of a dream without sound confirmation...

Matjohluk, I really do not understand why you seem to be obsessed with the physical appearance of Jesus.

I'm not obsessed, but I am concerned that people who have dreams are not aware of the "angel of light", the "father of lies" and his deception that make people think they had a visitation of our Lord.

Satan wouldn't dare produce an image of our Lord in all of His glory and His true features.

If our Lord appeared He would be in all HIS glory, and not LONG HAIR or appear as a dark figure, and you would be sure you had a visit by HIM, and wouldn't be suffering confusion.

My obsession is to warn others to be aware, beware and don't be unaware.
