  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There might be, but I would advise against getting into that. People have a lot of different dreams for a lot of different reasons, and they almost always mean nothing.

I think that Orthodoxy is "right" and it would give me a warm fuzzy if everyone in the world became Orthodox. But I wouldn't base a decision like that on a dream. What if we're the religion of the anti-christ and Satan were tempting you in a dream? I don't believe that to be the case, but I'd encourage you to be very careful. My suggestion for you is just to pray and seek Christ. If you have questions about our faith, we're more than happy to answer them to the best of our abilities.

I once dreampt that I was the child of a demon and was going to turn out to be either the Messiah, or the anti-Christ.

Knee-v is right. Maybe rather than looking more into dream interpretation, you should just look more into Orthodoxy. If it was a message from God, I'm sure he would not object to you applying your good sense and prayer to further discernment.

Some of the female saints seem to be mystics.

Its my understanding that devils can't enter my dreams or read my mind but that angels can give messages that way.

One only has to figure out what they mean.

However, the details of this dream I had are not clear. Just the one point I mention so I don't think it really could be interpreted anyway - without more detail. I'm not sure if I was Orthodox or just visiting a church in the dream at this point. It could have been EC too for all I know. It was very vague. All I am sure about is the Eastern culture.

I rarely remember much about my dreams aside from the theme or subject of it shortly after waking up.

On occasion, when I have been really stressed, there have been vivid memories but it seems to be a more healthy state when one actually doesn't remember them.

Glad St. Joseph heeded his dreams to marry and take the Holy Family to Egypt though.

I have discerned my heritage and its not Eastern. I'd have no legitimate reason to convert that I know of. So I don't think its indicating a conversion really. Maybe just a disappointment in some of my fellow "Christians". Just kind of wondering if there were a mystic reference I might follow up with that someone could point me to.

for starters, welcome to TAW

Eastern heritage has nothing to do with conversion. the legit reason to convert is because you believe it to be true.

demons can suggest stuff in your dreams too, or it coulda been just some wacky dream you had. that's why dreams need to be carefully looked at when we think they might mean something.

Thanks for the welcome.

As a consummate skeptic, I equally doubt just about everything, but especially dreams. :D Every now and then, one will hold a surprise or epiphany.

I appreciate the Apostolic Church and understand only culture for apparent divergence. I already think its true, where it matters.

Yes, I understand demons "suggesting" but I was meaning actually getting in or reading thoughts. That I believe they are not allowed to do. Though they may read and manipulate one so well it might seem that way at times.
