Are you equating magic with prayer? Prayer is not magic. And as Puff the magic Dragon is fictitious and prayer is Spiritual; science does not deal in those realms so couldn't rule them in or out.

I can´t speak for them (and I don´t know the study - please provide a link), but I am pretty sure their goal were statistical results.
