  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ray I'll help you. There's really no way to dance. You just listen to the music and move the way you feel. Let yourself go. I can do organized dance, like clogging, but no dancing like you could use at a dance. Guess we'd better take lessons, huh. ;)

That is exactly how I learned to dance. I danced that way for 12 years. Then I took my first ballet lesson... it is true that dance lessons help in many ways, but don't get into the trap of neglecting your own potential by getting too involved in some specific style.

I met a guy who learned to dance by being bored in dance clubs: he would find himself a corner and start moving, without really knowing how. By the time I met him he had made up this really cool way of dancing. It was a full and complete technique. Untill he met me, he didn't think much of it, except that he enjoyed dancing it, but I asked him to teach me his style, and he turned out to be a really good teacher. If you ever work towards developping your own style of dance, one thing you shouldn't do is get discouraged: this guy that I have given as an example, would usually need 15 to 45 minutes to get into the "dance state".

So just put the music on and move the way your body feels, think about movements that feel interesting to you, or ways the music makes you feel. That is enough for a start. You can experament with just parts of your body, (one hand or one arm, or just your torso) you can eventually experiment with balance, with getting to know the possibilities of your body (e.g. head moves back, forwards, sideways, circle, etc)

I don't know how to dance. Can anyone help me. Is there a web site I can go to or what?

Please help.:crossrc:

Hi Lee
is there any particular kind of dance you want to learn? I dance both ballroom and Latin. I would be happy to help you in any way i can. also what do you want to dance for? is it a special occasion, or do you want to learn to dance for yourself?
If it's for a special occasion tell me what it is and i'll try to help you learn some basics.
If it's for your own pleasure, i can help you there too, but it means you have longer to learn.;)

take care
Ava
