  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Farming" is about working the field to grow crops in a somewhat controlled environment. We have been doing that for much longer then 6000 years.
I can name that tune in one note: "firstfruits". I am not looking at when the process began. I am looking at when it was finished - a done deal. The age or era we live in began around 12,900 years ago. We find Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden around 6,000 years ago on the EIGHTH (8) day. God created this world in 6,000 years, rested for 1,000 years and then on the eighth Day we find Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Man was a hunter gather for 3 million years and then became a food producer. If you want to measure something then you have to know what your are going to measure. God looks at the tree when the tree first produces fruit. You have to look at the finish product when the last crop and the last animal was domesticated not the first.

"In any one place the process will be gradual.Cultivated crops or domesticated animals form at first only a small part of a community's diet, most of it coming still from hunting and gathering."

You should update your "understanding".
I got my understanding from loudmouth. If you want to claim that retrovirus is not evidence for evolution then that is fine with me. I am not going to argue against common ancestor because science does not conflict with the Bible. The whole point of the Bible is that God became a part of His creation. God became man. Evolution makes this a little bit more interesting. In fact Evolution helps us to understand the process of how God became a part of His Creation. For some of us science makes our faith stronger. We see everything as a miracle because God is a part of everything. At least I do not want to be a part of anything that God is not a part of. I never even became a Christian until my after my first son was born. That whole process was so amazing to me.

That doesn't make any sense. When is farming as a practice "finished"?

The age or era we live in began around 12,900 years ago. We find Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden around 6,000 years ago on the EIGHTH (8) day. God created this world in 6,000 years, rested for 1,000 years and then on the eighth Day we find Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Wait, are you saying the earth is only some 12 thousand years old?

Man was a hunter gather for 3 million years and then became a food producer.

Now, I don't follow anymore...
Your god created the world 12.000 years ago, but man was here 3 million years ago?

If you want to measure something then you have to know what your are going to measure. God looks at the tree when the tree first produces fruit. You have to look at the finish product when the last crop and the last animal was domesticated not the first.

You don't seem to realise that till this day, we continue to domesticate new plants and animals.

Farming is a practice, not an event.

I didn't say that it isn't evidence.
Next to updating your understanding, it seems you need to brush up on comprehensive reading as well.

You said that it comes primarily from ERV's. That is just not true.
The common ancestry between the other great apes and humans was established long before we knew about ERV's.

I am not going to argue against common ancestor because science does not conflict with the Bible.

Interesting choice of words.

So, by your own admission, you don't argue based on evidence and facts. Nope. You argue based on "does it conflict with the bible?".
If it does, you argue against it. If it doesn't, you hold it up as evidence for the bible and create threads about how science proves the bible.

The whole point of the Bible is that God became a part of His creation. God became man. Evolution makes this a little bit more interesting. In fact Evolution helps us to understand the process of how God became a part of His Creation. For some of us science makes our faith stronger.

Well, sure... if you only accept the science that you feel you can marry with your a priori beliefs, while ignoring all the science that disagrees....

We see everything as a miracle because God is a part of everything. At least I do not want to be a part of anything that God is not a part of. I never even became a Christian until my after my first son was born. That whole process was so amazing to me.

That's nice. But I'm not really interested in your emotional outlook on the world or your comfort zone.

I care about what's actually true, which I try to find out through reason and evidence. Regardless if it agrees or disagrees with a bronze-age book.
